Any Jersey guys here with tints had to have their cars inspected yet? I plan on getting my windows tinted on Friday, but I'm worried about having to get vehicle inspected in August. I don't feel like paying a shop $50 to get it inspected and then have them fail me for tints. Anyone know a place to get your car inspected in North Jersey that will pass you if you have tints? Anywhere in the Essex/Morris county area would be preffered, but I'm willing to drive a little.

 

I got a 35% on mine, I took a chance. I did it to my other car and just got it inspected in Lodi DMV and lowered my front windows, they passed me with that, Its a Honda Civic, I don't know what's going to happen when I take my CL but hopefully I get the same results, next time I have to go for my CL would be in 2005.

 

Thats what I was thinking of doing, especially since it will be summer, but my luck the guy will roll up the windows and fail me. I may try it still before going to a private place.

 

I got mine done at a shop that said if I fail inspection they will remove it, I can go get my car re-inspected and they will re-do the tint. This was a shop in MD that did it, so I am not sure if places in NJ would do that.

I dont think I have inspection till 2006 if I get a 2yr extension on my inspection.

 

I bought the car new in 03 so my sticker is good til 07, so I have a while before I have to worry about it ..

but my explorer had 5% all around, I tried rolling down the windows and running it through an NJ state inspection, and the old bastard inspecting it rolled them up on me it was like 90 degrees outside too.

Then he passes me for emissions, and it had a gutted cat with a flowmaster muffler??? go figure

I'd probably just wait the two months til August, get it inspected for free, then get tinted. better than paying for tint, and paying for someone to pass you. or paying for tint, not find anyone to pass you, taking it off, taking through state inspection, then paying to put back on.

 

I may wait. I don't know. I have an appointment for Friday to get it done and have to decide by then. But if I know I can get it passed I'll do it Friday cause I can't deal with the interior getting so damn hot!

 

I am probably going to get my tint re-done darker soon...on the back windows..
