thunking of comptech sway bars

thunking of comptech sway bars
Ever since I installed my comptech swaybars a year ago, i have been hearing constant thunking in the rear sway bar.
I am not sure what it is but passengers in the car notice it too.
It is bothering me and i dont know what to do
I think it is the stock bushings that i am using
i dont think comptech gave polyurethane bushings with the rear sway bars
Maybe i didnt tighten the bolt too much
Maybe i need to add lubricant
I hate how the comptech rear sway bars dont come with grease fittings like other sway bars so that i can lubricate the bars
anyone help me ? thanks

i know the problem
First of all , thank you guys on the forum for all your information.
I took a look underneath my car to see if my swar bar end links were loose. Sure enough, one side was really tight and the other side was really loose. MY right rear sway bar end link is pretty lose. When i pull down on the sway bar, it makes a thunking sound. But there is another problem!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was trying to use a socket wrench to tighten the lock nut that is attached to the bolt that is connected to the end link, but the lock nut moves in the same direction was the bolt. So this basically means that i can not tighten nor loosen the lock nut. It just keeps going around in circles. I do not know what to do. I used a allen wrench that put that on the end of the bolt and I used a open wrench to try and move the lock nut without moving the bolt. I can't get the lock nut to move on its own. The allen wrench is not going to give me enough strength to keep the lock nut from moving. So i am thinking that the lock nut is really rusted on there and I don't know what to do!
THis thunking is really driving my crazy.
Please someone help me!

Hi...You have 2 choices...
A) You could buy a new end link and cut the old one off
B) You can also use a pair of needle nose vise grips and grab the sway bay link stud(on the opposite from where the nut is) and clamp rather tightly. This should hold tight enough to torque the nut down

o man
i guess i ''ll try the needle nose pliers to get leverage in there.
Do you suggest that i buy a new bolt and lock nut so that i wont have this problem again after i take it off but its gonna get rusted again damn it
its impossible to find stainless steel screws too

Hi..
A new bolt is not the answer because it is made into the sway bar end link. A new end link is not that expensive...You could try that. However I would try the needle nose vise grips first...Not needle nose pliers.

PB blaster or liquid wrench... let it sit for atleast 30 minutes.
try and put a small pipe or block of wood or let the allen wrench wedge up against the lower control arm AFTER you put a box wrench on the nut.... it should come lose.
If NOT... HEAT it up with a propane torch.
When you go to put the end link bolt back on .. MAKE sure you USE Anti-Seize compound or you will have the same difficulty in the future.

now another f##### problem
I used a block of wood to put it up against the allen wrench for more leverage. As I was using the box wrench to try and tighten the nut, i heard a snap. Guess what happended?
THe allen wrench stripped the stud.
so the allen wrench is useless to me right now cuz the stud is stripped
Damn that stud must be really rusted on there.
I used wd40 and i used a little butane lighter to heat up the stud but i think i need a blowtorch or something
I guess my only other option is to use needle nose vise grips
Ive never heard of that but i guess i'll go to sears
Even if i went to a mechanic and told him to tighten the nut and it takes him 30 min, is he still going to charge me for half an hours worth of labor for just a damn nut??????
I might end up cutting off the end link but i called rallye acura and they want 107 cuz they said that they only sell the left and right end links for $107 wat a ripoff
anyone know where else i can get a end link cheap
