For those who know about air compressors
I can get a 1 gallong air compressor 100-psi from my job for free! i'm not sure if that is enough be able to use it to work on my car. I had an integra before and there were times i wish i had one of these to make the job a lot easier. Will this 100-psi air compressor get the job done?????

1 gallon?? That will be useless with air tools. It will have to constantly air up. The only thing that would be good for would be to blow out cracks and crevices while detailing and even then it would recharge constantly. Lets put it this way, my compressor is a 33 gallon 180 psi.

You need to hold atleast 90psi with most car air tools. Thats why your tank needs to be atleast 150psi to keep up adequate pressure.
I can almost guarantee that yours won't fit the bill for getting bolts off that are torqued over 50ft/lbs

Don't be fooled with the Sears combo. The air compressor is good quality and sufficient, but the accessories that they provide you are not that great. For example, I got the 33 gallon compressor from Sears for about $300, it came with an impact wrench, air hammer, and impact wratchet along with some other small accessories.
Now it will get the basic job done, but the impact wrench is very weak. It barely, barely gets off my lug nuts when they are torqued at 80ft/lbs. If they were 85ft/lbs, they probably wouldn't get it off.
So when you are shopping for an air compressor, only pay for the compressor, dont let them fool you with the "Free" accessory kit. Its usually mid to low quality and doesnt cut the bill when you are working on high torque bolts.
Overall, you can get the compressor for around $300, but expect to spend about another $200 on a drain cock, filter, and other small accesorries, in addition to quality impact tools.
Of course you can go more ghetto, but this is what to expect without bargin shopping. Good luck.

This compressor will run a lot of tools; the one I use the most is a 3/8 drive air wrench and it works great at 120# of pressure (1 1/2 gal tank)! Also blows up tires and such just fine.
It's free so I'd jump on it. If you don't like it you can upgrade later.

Compressors/tools are rated by S....most impact wrenches need around 5-7 S@ 90 PSI to operate properly....check the tools you want to use and match them to the compressor based on S required for the tools...the oil cooled compressors are usually quieter....
your deal sounds too small ..maybe a nailer??

^^^ the S should read cubic feet per minute...the edit will not let me use the normal abbr......
here is an example of sears wrench spec...with 'average' cubic feet per minute usage listed...

Yes, dont be so much concerned with overall PSI as . is what you really need for lots of air tools to operate properly. Many require a higher 7-15 at 90 PSI which many compressors cant keep up with. You need to look at the tool tht you plan on using/buying and seeing what its requirements are and if it will work. Thats why many people have a hard time getting impact wrenches to work properly with their compressors
(example, my HVLP )high volume low pressure) spray gun requires 15 at 40 psi. Thats a HUGE amount of air needed. I needed a 80 gallon compressor to handle it. Air tools work best with alot of at their disposal, which should be looked at more than PSI. Also a Larger DIA air hose will allow the tool to work better
