those stock sways, why I oughtta...

took forever to get them off today, bolts were rusted and just wouldnt come off. got the comptechs on though and they feel great. i shouldnt of waited soo long to get these sways, make a HUGE difference in handling, car feels soo tight and stiff now. but i can def. tell the ride is harsher over big bumps in the road....

yay, my first comptech mod :P :P

The bolts were rusted AND seized. We had to soak the shit out of it with PB Blaster and let it sit for like 20 minutes. Then the hex key socket was full of rust so we had to hammer in the hex keys, blah blah blah. Long story short, too much bullshit.

The front ones only took about half an hour or so, if I remember right. Most of the time spent on the rears were waiting for the PB Blaster and trying to figure out what to do.

My car only had about 15,000 or so miles on it when I put my Comptechs on, so it was a lot easier. With a friend, it took me about an hour to do both front and rear.

hey darrin, congrats on the new enhancements

I just bought CT sways and headers off of Satin Slayer and they should be here the end of this week. So you said that having the new sways on now make the rider harsher over big bumps? How much harsher over stock? Also, does it affect how tight the steering is at all?

It's not a jolt or anything, but you will feel the suspension trying to even out, and it might feel like it's stepping out a little bit. This is most obvious when going over manholes and potholes. Front, there is a lot of weight, so you don't feel it as much.

It's not too harsh. It's very possible to live with on a daily basis. It's just more communicative now.

I have noticed that since the day I got my CT Sways put on I have chirped/spun the tires a few times...meaning that before the sways it was harder to do it. Maybe some of the techies can offer why this may be.....but I love them anyways!!

Why would you spin and chirp more shouldnt it help the handling? Im getting mine in soon, bolts better not be rusted, so I dont have to pay a hefty install charge.

It the road is dead smooth, it shouldn't make much of a difference on launch. OTOH, if you get some "hop", a change in spring rate -- or in differential spring rate (sways) -- can impact this.

And, with time and different road surfaces, you are going to have to constantly evaluate what is really changed from a modification vs. what has changed from different conditions; e.g. just moving the car from a slight downhill to uphill with change the spinning. And the following will too:

Road surface (smooth or rough concrete, new or old/weathered pavement, paint strips, etc)
Temp (very cold, cold, moderate, hot, very hot).
Incline (mentioned before)
Load (passengers, gas load, etc)
Gas (winter, summer, additive package, brand, whatever)

If you could clearly hit the same stretch of road (it would be best if it was undulation/bump free with no elevation change) and used the same Gtech (try and use the Competition model), you could track your "relative" changes with some degree of certainty. You would want to repeat this a few times per session.

Finally, once you're on "choppy" road, the sways change the differential spring rate (it goes up) relative to the shocks. The car is obviously stiffer, but the shocks haven't changed. You can get more oscillations when springs increase in rate, but shocks don't (standard control theory crud).

I have no idea if this helps you or not -- but this is all that I know from a general statement.

I sure know mine helped that handling....

IMO, the other is a "it depends" thing...

So you guys can consistently take corners harder with the sways, but you chirp more around the corners due to the sways?

not really chirp, but when your pushing this 3500 lb car around corners harder the tires give way quicker depending on what kind of tires ya got

I just got the sway's put on yesterday...and I must say they do make the suspension feel much tighter and that you're in control more...but it really wasn't as HUGE of a difference as other people made it out to be. I mean sure, I can hug the corners great, but it's not like stock we couldn't hug em that well? I don't know. I mean they were definitely a great mod to get, don't get me wrong, but they're just not AS big of a diff. as other people make them out to be.
