that was when allmotor had it. thinjim added some extra feature to get a little more out of it and gave it better cooling and breathing capabilities.

really? do have have experience with the CM bearing going bad? i already ordered their bearing cuz they claimed that it is designed for the kit specifically.

I don't plan on taking it to the track, so you'll just have to make a trip out to Cali!

You should definitely get custom axles made. They probably won't hold up for long. You should build up the engine resleeve etc. Tune it for the mid to top end power and let's see how strong the 6 speed transmisson is.

Good things to those who wait... when you get anxious, watch that Youtube video a few times on the big screen in surround sound! It's so going to be worth the wait!

Not a CM bearing in particular, but I have seen a CC bearing give out and my buddy has had a few go out on him...I forgot which brand

Like I said though, I dont have any experience with Clutch Masters, they just might have a great bearing. Try it out and let us know how it goes and if you have any issues with it down the road.

I've heard the same thing from my friend who is a honda master technician... about the installation being the key thing. I made the shop doing my transmission order a new one though from Acura to be on the safe side, I think it was $12 according to him. But i couldn't find it to confirm that price.

I would change it out. When you start boosting, you'll have more pressure in the crankcase and put more pressure on the rear main seal. It's a $10 part but hundreds to drop the gearbox to replace. I'm on my 4th rear main seal. The Acura Master Mechanic I know swaps out the rear main seal anytime he does a clutch. Search for "Rear Main" and read the threads. It's not uncommon for them to leak.

though i agree with you 100%, here is my dilemma. i have pressed the issue a couple times but he insist that for the "extra" hours he would need to get to the main seal that it is not worth it and re-assures me that i'm okay. He came highly recommended from Thinjim himself, so i do not want to insult his intelligence or integrity. at this point, i'll just have to trust him and hope it holds up .

how long is it between your seal replacements? 4th one sounds like they go out often. do they go bad that quickly? how aggressive are you on the clutch and what clutch setup are you running?

CM Stage4 Clutch Kit

the clutch went in today and i was able to take it out for the "break-in" period.

i was very nervous about how different it would feel and what the "harsh" engagement would be like. to my surprise i was very smooth. really close to the stock setup. the main difference is getting use to the how quickly the clutch engages. literally, as you are releasing the clutch pedal you need to give it some gas. my stock pedal didn't engage until 1/2 way up. another difference is the pedal is slightly heavier, but nothing to noticeable. the car does rev up a bit faster, but not to concerned with the gains from the clutch kit. i'm sure i won't feel any of my bolt-on gains once the turbo goes in.

overall, i'm pleased to find that the clutch is not too aggressive and i will still be able to drive it around the city.

That's great to know. Thanks. Kinda makes me wish I went with an aftermaket clutch. I had the exact same fear about it being too aggressive for day-to-day. Glad its to your liking

Good to hear!

Can you clarify as to which CM kit your comments above pertain to for the CL-S6:
Clutchmasters part #:
4A/08-028-HDCB4-AL = Ceramic 4-puck
4A/08-028-HDCB6-AL = Ceramic 6-puck

I'm going to need a new clutch soon as well, and CM seems to be the route to go.

Thanks

I have the 6-puck. 4A/08-028-HDCB6-AL.

There have been complaints about "chatter" but i didn't notice anything when i took it out for a drive. My guy says that it may eventually happen and that it is pretty common with performance clutches.

you can also look into XLR8 clutch kits. I was debating between the two, but got a really good deal on the CM in the BM. if and when this kit goes out, i will be putting in the XLR8 kit. They have a kit with a full disc that can handle the same power so you won't get that "bite" from the 6-puck. also, claims to not have the "chatter".

Sorry to hear about that. Doing a turbo on a car is a big job. Did you already drill/tap oil return lines into the oil pan? There might be a way to just tap the lines into the drain plug so that no drilling of the pan is involved

the kit came with a custom oil pan that is fitted for the oil return line. it is also notched to fit the j-pipe w/ the exhaust cutout.

the install is lagging because he is in the middle of moving to a new spot. i knew it was going to take longer than planned. it's just the anticipation is killing me. so close yet so far...

painfully slow progress....

the latest is that the waste gate is stuck open and will need to order a new one. so that puts this build on hold for a couple more days.

at this point, i'll be happy to get her back by the end of this month. like everyone else, i am staying tuned as well.

knock sensor

Thinjim added an additional knock sensor to detect detonation. Anyone remember where and how he installed it? looked through some old threads but came up short.

Quick Reply: Thinjim's Turbo Kit LIVES!!!
