Are these Pullies useable/Fixable, advice please

Notice the little gashes, will it cause any damage if used in this condition, or does it look like it can be repaired ?

Thanks

I'd think they belts would wear faster, but that is an un-professional opinion here.. Stop trying to eat everything when you're high.

I wouldnt use it, those gashes look pretty sharp. I wouldnt risk it, just spend the $170 and get a new one from Excelerate in the sponsored sale forum.

Damn what a waist, that will definitely make the belts wear faster = more money to spend = hassle

civicking 08-26-2005 04:10 PM

what happened to it, why is it all beat up?

Smitty 08-26-2005 04:15 PM

holy shitski... not good... it will cause the belts to wear/tear.break and maybe even slip.

phipark 08-26-2005 04:48 PM

Looks like someone put some Vise grips on it.

Smitty 08-26-2005 04:52 PM

maybe some water pump pliars

RooEng 08-26-2005 05:15 PM

I'd use a file and sand paper to clean it up. If you don't want it can I have it?

Smitty 08-26-2005 05:23 PM

:pofl:

this is getting good.

This is what I am not sure of....

I bought these when I was thinking of getting a 03 6 MT CLS when I got rid of my 01 CLS. I collected quite a bit of stuff, and this box I honestly never opened to see what the pullies even looked like. I bought them from Chaptorial who took them off when he had his CT S/C put on, and had only used them for ~ 10k miles, if that and I know his stuff was always professionally done.

I sold them to Ruf87, still without having opened the box (hand delivered to him)
and once he opened the box he asked me, which of course I couldn't give an answer, since I had never seen the things.

I sent Chaptorial an Email wih a link to the pics, to see what his input is on it.... I know he's been busy with school and what not and hasn't been around much.
So I thought I would get everyone's opinon on what we can do, because Ruf really wanted these pullies.

Smitty 08-26-2005 06:29 PM

poor Ruf...

in all honesty I would contact Unorthodox with those pictures and see how they respond.

Chops. thanks for doing this.

My thoughts were that someone used a screwdriver to get belts on and off. :whyme:

You will get less than 500 miles with those pulleys.

No prob Ruf, I figured we needed some insight, so I decided to just tell the whole story and see what everyone thought.

I'm betting belt life, which was my thoughts about using these.

I guess our only hope is to get Chaps to give us a refund on these. :xfingers:

I have to admit, I thought about using my dremel to round the edges and polishing it out. The sharp edges are more of an issue than the small gap, but for less than $200 it's probably not worth the risk.

I really hope he responds fairly quickly to the PM. I honestly think he will tell us if they were like that when he boxed them up, which he should have told me about.
I saw you called yesterday (when we got back here last night)... I didn't take my phone out with us last night.

Hum, I wonder if it could have happened durinf shipping. The did have bubble wrap, but the edges banging hard enough could have created some cuts/damage. But the box would have to have been tossed or dropped hard several times.

Send photos to UR- I find they are very helpful and can tell you if you can heli-arc and/or polish to fix, or if they will be willing to give you a trade-in at a reduced price.

Darn shame- I'll bet this was done breaking it loose from the crank, or from dropping it.
