I was driving down the highway going about 75 or so when after about 20 miles, I look down and my thermostat is moving between half and 1/4. IT is moving slowly . It does it once every 2 miles or so .
Then on my way home, it does the same thing but this time goes from 1/2 to below C. What is going on , it did this about 6 times on a 45 mile ride. Anyone have any clue. I checked fluids and all is well. I am just mighty confused ?????

It is possible for the thermostat to open and close as you drive- thus the temp gage will fluctuate. Given the insane high temp we are having here in the east- it does seem strange that the gage would go down- most people are commenting that it runs slightly above 1/2. Maybe you have an intermitent connection to the gage, but I would think that would cause a sudden movement. If the car is running fine- not overheating, I wouldn't worry about it.

Okay , thanks, makes me feel better, mine is always slightly below 1/2 and is running fine, but it freaked me out when it suddenly dropped to below C stayed there for a few seconds and then slowly moved back to slightly below 1/2 . This is the first time it has done that. Oh well , thanks for the info though .

Does the fan always run, or go on and off? I'm in Eastern PA and mine stays right around half.
Maybe the fan starts up, cools off the engine, shuts off and it heats back up.

I believe it stays on almost all the time, I havent noticed it turning off. This is the first time this has happened since I bought the car ( 1 year ago ). It is just really weird.
