So this bolts on easily and makes your car not pass smog, but makes it loud and slightly increases power ? Sorry if I am completely wrong guys. but at $127 it seems pretty nice.

Dont forget the free carbon build up on the bumpers and the nasty smell.

And the possibility of a check engine light.

But it can be yours for the low, low price of just $127!!!

Sick too bad it doesnt give off the smells of fried foods like the eco cars running off veggie oil . lol. So high flow cat is free flowing yet functional?

Certain HFCs can throw a CEL, but I havent gotten any in over 2 years running one. It will still pass a visual inspection, you dont get the buildup on the bumper, nor do you have the nasty smell. A test pipe may make more power then a high flow cat, but you wont even be able to feel the difference (we're talking maybe 4hp).

XS headers, Magnaflow high flow cat, Comptech b-pipe, Magnaflow resonator (kills drone and rasp), Comptech mufflers. All 2.5", using v-band clamps on all but the muffler flanges.

how much does a test pipe make over stock, and then over a high flow cat? Do we have dynos? With a test pipe your always going to have a CEL and raspy sounds (but if u get a resonated one it will lessen the raspy sound a bit). Hope you find some good info here

You're looking at 7-8hp from going stock->test pipe. Maybe 4-5 from going stock->HFC.

It is NOT cost worthy. The stock exhaust is pretty non restrictive (minus exhaust manifolds). Modern cats don't restrict too much HP. HFC have been made popular because older cars used to restrict a lot of HP with primitive cats, so people got a shitton of HP for free (steel pipe).

I wouldnt say that about all modern cats. Take a look at the 3G TL/8G Accords and precat deletes/high flow cats. They made some nice power with those mods. Or look at the supercharged Jags. HFCs have been proven to make ~40hp over stock. I think Evo Xs and MS3s have been making more power with HFCs then they do with test pipes too, but theres another explanation for that that doesnt have anything to do with this thread....

The reason for the power loss going to a test pipe? Those are turbocharged motors. The slight bump in back pressure from the stock cat/HFC keeps pressure on the seals, making them less likely to blow out.

Here's two old videos of my car when I had, Excelerate performance test pipe and comptech axle back mufflers. Everything else is OEM exhaust.

I love how in that first clip when the car hits vtec it shoots out smoke from the exhaust a second later.

It only smoked because my tube seals were leaking and I just changed my spark plugs on the dyno before that run so a little oil got into a few cylinders. It burned off fine though lol.

Then Jag is obviously doing something wrong there....a cat should not result in such a massive loss of power.

To the OP

Don't remove your cat as it will result in a CEL and you are making the air nastier to breathe....just get a bigger cat if you want a few extra hp but I'd get headers first....

yeah your going to run into a CEL unless u try the defouler trick ( ive never tried it) my test pipe didnt come with an O2 sensor hole...well i guess thats because its actually just a resonator... I just unplugged my secondary 02...car runs fine.
