Telescopic Steering Wheel

Do any of you think Acura should add a telescopic steering wheel feature to future CLs and TLs?

I certainly do.

I would love one but I would imagine it would add even more weight to the car.

Yes. The CL and especially the current TL need this feature badly.

It wouldnt add more weight if it was manual... like our tilting.

It may add a nominal amount of weight if it was powered like the RL.

But I can live with manual.

Yes, I really miss this feature. I have realively long legs and short arms so this feature means a lot in driving comfort to me.

Acura definitely should add this feature...which is already available on Audis and BMWs. The feature is great for people like me (6'2") who barely fit into a CL as is. We have to remember this is a luxury car (not a sports car)...and as a luxury car that is one amenity it should have.

I SERIOUSLY doubt that. Not that I am doubting you, but Why the civic??? I'll find out tomorrow when I ask my technician about his civic and his teleoscopic steering wheel.

there's another route to take with this...my brother just got a new ford f-150 and it has a button (electric) to move all of the friggin pedals forward or backwards!!

personally, i would like to see some electric tilt-up action for the steering wheel that is connected to the seat memory settings-this would make getting in and out of the car much easier by moving the wheel up and seat back (not a new idea)

Yes, that would be great. I'm over 6'3" and it would make getting in and out a delight!

Probably the only thing I hate about the design of this car.

I have always preferred the "american" method of tilt steering. I wish the column was more like a knuckle, where you pulled a lever and tilted the wheel up or down. That way if you had the seat back you could tilt the wheel all the way down to get the top of it closer to your body.

The pivot point should not be at the base of the column, and it doesn't have nearly enough travel. Not to mention that it sits to far back.

AMEN to that!!! Japanese tilt steering is a complete joke! I don't know why they even bother! This car could definitely use a telescoping steering wheel. I'm tall as well (6'1") and I have to streeeeetch to reach the wheel. That's the only thing that can make this car tiring on long trips.
