That said, I still and will always miss the rumble and torque of a nice V8 . . . makes we wish I had kept my 64 Malibu SS . . . which wasn't stock

I hope that the 06 SS works out and no hate intended.

You really should do yourself a favor and check out the 06 SS. The interior is made of higher quality materials than the Acura granted its three years newer than the last CL. The layout is clean and easy to use. Ergonomics and exterior style are a matter of taste which I prefer the Impala inside and out, but I do think the CL-S looks good on the exterior, but I never cared for the interior. If you want handling look to the Monte SS or the Pontiac GXP. Both get a firmer ride complements of the FX4 suspension. The GXP gets better brakes and Indy style TAP shift. If you want uncompromised refinement look into a Caddy CTS-V. The current GTO may not appeal to everyone with its nonaggressive exterior, but the interior is top notch and where can you find that kind of total performance for the buck. GM is building great cars you just got to go drive them for yourself.

Was it an 06 SS with the V-8 or the old body with the supercharged V-6. Either way the Impala SS does not have TAP shift. Good try! I was playing with a last gen V-6 mustang 5spd. Yeah I know they are slow but I hate mustangs. Plus the driver thought he could beat the Impala not knowing that there was a V-8 under the hood. Anyway I gave him a 2 car head start and had 2 cars on him by around 60mph. At the next light he told me my car was awesome and asked what I had done to it to make it the fast. I told him it had a stock V-8 thats not broke in yet.
