Taillight Tint Film

Hey everyone, I'm trying to see if anyone is interested in tail light tint film. If we can get 5-10 interested 01-03 CL owners to reply then Rockblocker will perhaps start production on them. What i'm talking about is film much like wondow tint to be applied over the tailight to created a darker look to them. check out www.rockblocker.com for more information and pictures. There was also a group buy for TSX and 04 TL tail light tint here

what exactly will it cover? Can we get it to cover the lower half only (on the '03s, I'm regarding only the red part)?

Here is an example of what they would look like.

You could trim the part down to the area you wanted to cover pretty easily.

Wouldn't this thing peel off or scratch with time since it going to be on the outside instead of the inside of the housing

i believe there are 2 different types of tint, a light and dark. also the film shouldnt peel or scratch unless you really try to peel/scratch it

Yes someone could scratch or peel it off, but if you are worried that it is a porcelain doll the answer is no. The material is made from a high impact resistant vinyl made to withstand punishment.

In California, yes. In the U.S., the DOT prevents the "removal" of red reflecting lenses and material off vehicles.

I would play it safe and just get a light enough tint that can still allow the lights to function. IMO, the last thing I want to do is prevent someone from seeing my rear end in bad conditions.

I don't want to step on toes here, but just so you know www.c-c-c.net also offers a film tint for the CL.

Its $24.99 and you can check it out here:

http://www.c-c-c.net/CustomCarCreati...eriorFrame.htm

Hope this is OK to post, www.c-c-c.net is also a sponsor here. I just wanted to pitch some alternatives incase anyone was interested. There's also a pic of what it looks like in the link.

It's still valuable from a price comparison perspective. I think $35-40 is approximately what it should cost for an entire tail light tint kit. That said, I'm down to get one

here are some pictures of 01' taillights with the nightshadez spray on tint courtesy of bgsm1th his thread is located here
Before the tint:

After the tint:

After the tint with the lights on:

wit the tint film it will be an equally spread tint, it will also shine alot better than the spray. another plus is that the film will be alot easier to remove if you had to or didnt like the way it looked.

I'm not getting it if it's that dark. Wouldn't look very good on a red car, but looks good on the black one.

I'm interested, but not if it's that dark. Do you have a pic of what it would actually look like? I want it darker, but on that one pic it's almost black. It would look horrible on a Red CLS.

Well that depends what year you have, if you have the 03 model i think it would look pretty good matched with your black headlight housing. I dont have an actual picture because theres no film for the CL yet. I'll get you a picture of it on a TSX though...

I have an '01. I cleared and painted my headlights housings black so it looks like an '03. I like that one on the TSX, it's not as dark as the previous pic. Again, I'm in if it looks like the TSX one.

I like that one. I think it looks a little like the new SL65 AMG, which is a little darker than ours. How many people do we have?
