Suspension issue

I have a 2001 Cl-S with alomst 18K miles on it. I love the car to death but I'm starting to notice more often that when I step on the gas (just in traffic, not at jet-speed) that the back end seems to noticeable drop.

I know that front wheel drive cars do this to some degree but I don't remember the car doing this when it was brand new.

The other night I was coming off the highway and stopped at a light. I noticed the headlights scan down and then back up on the back of the car in front of me--the car seemes to nosedive a bit. I was only slowing and stopping from about 35 MPH.

Am I just being overly critical or is something wrong? This is my first car over $25 K and I just want to make sure its OK.

Thanks for your comments and feedback!

well, I'm at 15K and I haven't noticed anything out of the usual.

I think the car does nosedive quite a bit due to its weight. The Comptech springs help a bit with the nosedive though.

Your story seems normal.... However 18k miles on CL-S. Man..... how many hours do you drive daily? A couple?

That is called "Squat" and it is quite normal. I had someone drive my old 2002ti ( 170 hp engine with stiff springs up the street one day, and it looked like the back end was getting pushed down about 3 inches at every shift ).

If any one is concerned, push on any of the corners (of the CL-S) and if it looks like it is bobbing, its time for shocks. If someone is driving over a lot of bumps and dips, they could go bad early...
