Well, I strongly doubt the Supra just drove in on street-trim, ripped an 8-sec E.T. and drove home. I doubt the owner drives the car as-is to work, Ralphs and his/her kids to school!
Heck... when I track my car... its not very close to street-trim either... and mine is slow!

You can drive a street legal 10 second small bloock or big block chevy to work... Same with a big single supra. Crazy, but it can be done...

impressive time, but allmotor is right, this thing is nowhere near a "street" car. im much more impressed by a 10-11 second STREET DRIVEN, STREET LEGAL supra than a 8 second supra thats one step away from being an NHRA funnycar.

heh, ya it has a chute on the back
There's a good handful of street driven supras which run sub 10 second 1/4's.
Lots of American muscle does too... Chevy, Ford, Dodge...

Mid 11-second Supra's are entirely believable on 91-octane.
I doubt there are ANY 10-second or quicker Supra's running a catalytic or 91-octane... not to mention other emissions-related stuff.
Honestly, I don't think it is very easy to make a car over 3-4 seconds quicker and still retain ALL the emissions stuff.
Nevertheless... the times for this particular Supra are VERY impressive and I would sure like to drive/own that car!

propane injection, technically your right, not 91. And you can find 94 in a lot of states.

The owner used to have a SICK Supra he used to bring to the track on black rims. I spoke w/ him a number of times it was not street legal.
Another character has a white one that runs high 10's. Street Legal.

On of the Supras from around here does high 11s, I believe, and it's his "daily driver." He just put in a big single over the winter...and blew it up on the dyno. I think it was like 600-something WHP, but he ran it too lean, and he blew it. I don't wanna say who it is, in case I have some of the info wrong. Whatever the case, his car was fast as hell, and he'll have it even faster soon enough, I'm sure. His goal is/was to put down 800 or 900 WHP and have it "relatively streetable," whatever that means.

The same unless he broke the lights.
1/4 mile time only starts once you break the light sensor with your front wheel.
So even if you sit there for 10 seconds before you go the timer wont start until you trip the sensor.
However your reaction time will be high as hell.

That thing is not street legal. If you wanna go to that extreme...here is Todd Fulman's Super Street Outlaw car. It maintains all stock body panels it just has a major rollcage in it....OH YEAH....IT RUNS 7.50s on a 10.5" tire.

cool...There is a Supra that is Street legal and has a 99% chance of running 8's in a little...he ran mid 9's at TXK3 full interior, didn't have slicks, i'm guessing radials...street legal...

um just to for all of your information, it is not a "street car" however it retains all factory suspension (no back half no tube frame, none of that shit)
It retains a large portion of its weight
it runs on DRAG RADIALS, to the mustang owner, i dont see stangs runnin those times on radial tires, maybe biasply but not radials.
Also gentlemen, this car is streetable, mostly HAHA,it runs full exhaust, all body panels, full interior, (cant even remove the back seat for weight savings) as a full 8 point roll cage, the street class is VERY strict, hell this car still runs the factory 6 speed and factory IRS, and factory diff.
Dont see ANY stangs runnin 8.90's on the factory diff or factory manual gear box
i havent posted here in a long long time, my CL is long gone, but i thought i would come on and look for some info for a friend, i saw this post and couldnt resist

Another thing......not saying that that Supra is not BADASS...but I'd be willing to bet that the mustang mentioned above cost 1/3 of what it would cost to make a Supra go that fast.

that right there is pretty big advantage to a supra running IRS, with stock gears, and drag RADIAL tires
