Supercharger & 5 speed auto?

I've decided my 01 CLs auto deserves an upgrade after 150K of reliable service and come the end of October will have the funds to make it happen. I'm on my 3rd transmission with 20K on the latest rebuild.

I've been told that superchargers are no longer available for the Type S Acura's but assume it shouldn't be too hard to locate a used unit. If memory serves me correctly one of the more notable posters here, Zeta had upgraded his 6speed SGR CL succesfully.

Aside from procuring a blower, what else would I need to complete the upgrade?

Am I putting my rebuilt auto tranny in peril? Can the J32 engine with 150K handle the additional torque 5 lbs. of boost would bring?

I could sell the car and take the $2000 it would most likely fetch and put it towards the purchase of a used M series Bmmer but I've had it for 12 years and consider it a member of the family at this point or I could restore it but am tiring of Crown Vics and almost anything else passing me at highways speeds.

let's look at the facts..you're on the third tranny and wondering if adding more power would put it in danger!?

the engine is stout. the tranny is not. you will have no problems adding 5lbs of boost to the engine. your tranny will be hurtin'

You have two options:
1. Buy the used CT setup for sale in the Black Market Forum
2. Forego the possibility of a 4th tranny and pick up an entire mint 6spd CL with SC also in the Black Market Forum.

Not a chance I'd consider putting a supercharger on that thing with an automatic transmission.

These Acura tranny's are glass but the rebuilt unit i had installed a couple of years ago was supposedly bulletproof..

I've heard that many times before. There was even a guy near me that installed a supposedly "bulletproof" level 10 trans kit and had a great mechanic install it. I think you can guess what happened.

These forums have yet to see a single one of the claimed "bulletproof" transmissions turn out to be true. The only solution has been to swap it for a different auto from a different model and year. Anyone saying they simply rebuilt the CL transmission to be bulletproof is feeding you a pile of bullshit.

AT fluid replacement

I recently procured a used Comptech supercharger and plan to install it over the holidays on my 01 CLs . First and foremost, I had my AT replaced 3 years ago with an "upgraded" rebuilt unit and probably have 30K or less on it.. I recently chatted with a Honda tech who suggested I could replace the fluid on the tranny if it was within manufacturers suggested maintenance parameters. This was in response to my comment that replacing fluid on an automatic transmission is a sure way to kill it, I see Comptech recommends redline synthetic for superior protection against the added stresses 4 lbs of boost would put on the unit.

Is replacing the fluid on my tranny ok if it's within maintenance parameters? Is swapping out Honda fluid with Synthetic an advisable move in this situation?

its gonna break no matter how many times you change the fluid or how its been "upgraded". the transmission itself has an internal flaw that cant be fixed and trusted to be reliable. the newer accord trans is "fixed", cheap, and will probably hold up just fine.
