Stolen TL HID's here's the picture
I sold my TL recently because I just could not take it any longer. Two sets of stolen lights with each repair being $3200 bucks each. You know the insurance companies will not put up with that every few weeks.
My friends co-worker had two sets stolen where the 2nd pair was stolen 48 hours after getting the car back from the first theft!! Another friend also had two pair stolen. We all live in different counties of NJ, so it's not just an isolated area being effected.
I needed piece of mind. I sold my dream car. I'm not happy, but I have a piece of mind while I'm at work that my car is safe. The parking lot where I work has Mercedes, B&M, Lexus, Jags. The only cars being touched are the Acura's.
I hope Acura considers making XEON lights optional equipment. If they do and if the car looks different enough that the thiefs know it's a plain jane, I will buy my dream car again.
Here's a picture of the thiefs handi-work. It's not pretty.

Also, here's an article I found:

Spread the word...
if you park, park next to a wall with the nose of the car as close to the wall as possible!
also, shock sensors guys! especially for all your folks in NY,NJ. i'm redoing my whole clear light setup next weekend, perhaps i'll look at ways to lock the HD assembly in place, maybe with a lock-bolt of some kind.
also, how is the theft being done? from what it seems they open the hood by cracking the grille... but the what about the bumper?

Parking your car against the wall won't stop them, as my one friend tried that and they still nabbed the lights. My other friend had a motion detector, let's face it, alarms make noise and no one pays attention to them, so it does not help. (Yeah if they were stealing them in front of your house it would help, but most of us are at malls or work when this happens).
I wish you guys luck in finding a way to nail these assholes. I would love to buy another Acura, but until this stupidy is over or Acura wakes up and makes a design change, I'm not going near their cars.

This Sucks........
Too bad you are in NJ where most of this is taking place. All could have been avoided if ACURA would have made them a different shape so that they wouldn't also fit in Hondas. I hear they pop into an Accord pretty easily.

Closest spot to party city ( if you know where on rt3 in clifton im talking about) and i seen them, well a gs400 backed up into the spot by my bumper..when i pressed the unlock button they drove off, i didnt think of it and when i got to my car the passenger light was missing..
They cut the bumpper in half and proceeded to take it like that..

Any ideas to foil the thieves ?
Will an extra lock on the hood do it ?
I'd like to find a way to keep them from getting the lights out in one piece, or slow them way down, even if it does not beat the damage they do.
Something that explodes with lots of shrapnel would be real nice !

what if you replaced all the bolts that hold in the headlights with security bolts? They're an bolt with an odd shaped head that requires a key, like locking lugnuts. Of course, I'm not sure if they even take the bolts out...do they just use force and break the lights out?
If I had to sets of lights stolen I'd go get lojack installed on each of them. Just to catch the thieves next time. I'm sure you could fit in in there if you take the headlight assembly out to clear the lights. You'd have to give them their own for of power, but it will only use that power once the lojack is activated.

I heard an Acura dealer in NJ got hit. They got off with several sets. You just can't park the damm car anywhere. They nailed my car in a busy mall the first time. I cannot believe where I parked the car, it was in a very busy section of the mall, lots of people during lunch hour.
I want an Acura without HID's. Until then I'm not going near another Acura.

I had them installed on my CLS!!!
The guy who put them on told me when I hear the alarm go off, I better get to the car.....If I don't...The lights will be gone in 10 seconds!!!
Jer-z is bad for HID owners!!!
The dealership where I brought my car had 8 sets stolen in 1 night!!!

I knew a kid back in high school that used to make a living stealing HID's. He'd go to dealership stock parking lots, houses, business, WHERE EVER. I mean he said it takes less than a minute to take out Escalade & Porsches. All they use is a screw driver to pop them out. They only car about the bulb & ballast. Frickin bastard. Every time someone steals a pair of HIDs, everyone's insurance goes up just a tad!!!

I cant believe you let theives get to you. you should of never sold your dream car.
You can do many things such as a remote alarm, air horn system; or even change the HID system to regular bulbs.
