Stolen!

About the Ravelco anti-theft: I did all of the inside install myself and got the wiring under the hood. It was extremely easy. I was going to do the soldering myself, but i'm lost among the wires, so i'm taking it in today to get done. Ravelco states the install shouldn't take more than an hour total. I've done over half the work, so shouldn't be much $ to finish it up.

Are you limited at all to where you can place that socket-type part of the Ravelco? (I mean the thing you plug that piece into, to get the car started) I was hoping I'd be able to put it somewhere where it's not in plain sight.

They give you quite a bit of wiring to use, so you're not really limited at all. It should go somewhere where it is not a nuissance for you to put in everytime, because that will get old fast. I did a flush mount underneath and to the left of the steering wheel.

Did you guys have any security systems installed?
I have a Hornet 745T installed on mine. Seems like it would help, I accidentally set it off myself on a weekly basis
Also, it has a 2-way keyfob so if anyone messes with the car I'd know immediately.
I've never really been sure how much after-market security systems helped, but it seems like it couldn't hurt.

After reading the thread, seems there is a lot of talk of security. My bad, next time I'll read before I post. :P
How is the Hornet 745T? Decent? Previous owner installed it.
Car theft isn't really a problem here, anyway.

I went to test drive a used type S TL yesterday...they appraised my car and needless to say they had my keys, driver's license and VIN number. I'm glad I park in a garage at night, but I hate having to think about this kind of stuff.
I have gap insurance so I guess I'd look at it as a move onto a newer/different car but it still feels like such a violation, plus, all the mods that go with it that insurance doesn't know/care about.

people who say that all the mods go to waste when your car is stolen, thats not true. you get reimbursed aslong as you have receipts. thats what im working with right now with my insurance company

With mods you need an agreed upon valuation to get your cash back. You will get some of it back, but not nearly so much.

some insurance companies have an added option for aftermarket parts for it to be covered so its not the same for all companies.

i have AAA insurance. I know im not going to get reimbursed every penny but its still something. finally got a rental a 08 mazda 5. haha fun lil mini mini van.

Yeah I was real worried when I found out about that J32 swap. I'm glad I have LoJack on mines.
I seen a silver RSX today in my neighborhood just lingering around for no reason. I've never seen this car in my neighborhood too. Idk what he was doin. Hope he wasn't spying on nuffin. So I got into my other car and drove around the corner. When I came back, he pulled off.
How good is the LoJack?

LoJack I've been told is really iffy. It all depends on how much of a pro the thief is. Knowing all that I know about the options thieves have, I'm sure there's something out there that is readily available for thieves that scrambles the signal the LoJack sends out....

IMO just do a bit of research about what options you have available. Some of us are getting Ravelco's.
Just a thought, but what do people think about just a simple car cover? Of course you wouldn't put on a car cover when you're at the store or anything, but if you live in a shitty neighborhood...? I mean, the would-be thief probably wouldn't know what kind of car it is, and of course taking the cover off would be an extra step in their "get in, get it out" kind of plan.
Again, just a thought...
