Still having MPG Problems.

Ok if you read my last posts about shitty MPG even WHEN I DRIVE NORMAL, well then I tried it again. I drove half a tank normal. Went from F to the Half Dash and I only got 118 miles. I drove so perfectly. I only floored it outright ONCE. What is going on with my car why am I getting this shitty MPG even when I drive normal. It gives me that attitude not to care anymore and just beat the shit out of it. When I beat the shit out of the car I get 190-210 miles for a full tank, when I drive normal I only get about 230-250. What's the point. Should I tell Acura about this.

are you driving out in AZ? i know during the summer here in VA, i would get about the same mileage you are getting. but now that the temp's a little cooler, i've been getting better mileage and better response too.

I usually average 22-23 miles per galon.. in my last long trip I drove 292 miles and topped my tank with just 11 Galons. That is a 26.5 MPG.

I should do 28MPG+ bu I was climbing the white mountain (34 miles) and driving couple times to triple speed land. In addition on the interstate I was doing 80+ most of the time...

I recommend take a long trip and see how a full tank will take some 400 miles

I was thinking about that but it has cooled down here. I mean the high is only upper 80s low 90s. And at night it is in the upper 70s low 80s. And not much humidity, so It shouldn't be as bad as it is. I'm going to see what Acura says, cause I just noticed something else that I need to go there for.

I get a little under 26 MPG (25.8) in traffic and highway driving combined. So you might wanna bring it up with the dealership to find out why or your comp might be set on "Aggresive Driving Mode" that could be for the loss in MPG

Shit I don't even get 20 I'm getting 17 or 18 even when I drive calm. I drive to ASU three days a week which is 3 miles back roads and 15 miles highways. But backroads here are not like back roads in most places. They are straight and 45's which I do 60-70 in. Lights are about .5 miles apart and are never red because the other ways are side streets. So it's not a lot of stopping and going it is pretty smooth. To work it is 4 miles and that is stop and go just because of the time of day. But still I mean 17 mpg is really bad. I'm going to acura to see what they say cause this bothers me now.

Did you break in the car properly??? The break in period is pretty critical in how your car will perform. Take a long road trip it might help. In the city I get 19 MPG but on long trips I get 30+ MPG.

hey, how about checking to make sure your tires are inflated properly? those are common issues when one's MPG drops considerably. i get at least 350 miles before my gas lamp turns on when my tires are properly inflated, and around 275 when not. watch out for the front tires specifically.

This summer in NJ I was getting anywhere from between 22-26 mpg commuting to work..22 miles each way on Route 1 - traffic and traffic lights. As the weather has been getting cooler I also noticed that my mileage has improved a bit...but this weekend I took a trip to Maine. I filled up here in NJ as I pulled out of town and made it up to Kennebunkport, Maine before filling up 340 miles and when I filled it up to my amazement it took only 10 gallons....34 mpg! I continued on to Bar Harbor (another 200 hwy miles) drove around another 120 miles on Sat. and got 35 mpg..so it wasn't coincidence. Maybe the combination of cool weather and all hwy driving helped but I was really surprised and happy to get such good mileage on a raod trip.

I though I was the only one going crazy. Gas is killing me....especially since I live in the Bay Area (most expensive gas in the U.S.).

If I drive in the city, I am averaging about 200-215 miles off of a full tank. When I get on the freeway, its a different story. I just went on a long trip and got almost 380miles from a full tank.

When I am in the city, I am usually in SS. Do you guys think this would make a difference?

The gas mileage woes continue for me as well !!

I'm happy I'm not the only one. The MOST I ever got on a tank of gas was 340 miles, but I'm usually seeing the trip meter at 130-150 miles by the time I reach 1/2 tank after a fill-up.

I also just recently added a bottle of the Chevron Techron Fuel System Cleaner, HOPING that my mileage would improve, but it has not.

The car is just over a year old with around 13000 miles on it, and I have NEVER gotten good gas mileage.

My driving is a mix of highway and city driving, but on the weekends, it's mainly highway -- in any event, I usually find the light coming on at around 275 miles -- IT REALLY SUCKS MONKEY BAWLZ -- but I've learned to deal with it ...

But what MAKES me sick, is my fiance can drive for about 3 months on one TANK of gas in her Chevy Cavalier ! (alright, maybe not 3 months, but almost 500 miles!) ...

Best Full tank to light is 252. But usually I get 190-210. I also drive like a nut as we all know. But 252 for driving perfect that sucks ass dude. Best Half Tank is 130. Fawk that POS I rather get 10 MPG to drive our car hahah.

strangely enough though, on some occasions I've noticed that I may be at like 100 at ALMOST a half a tank, and around 200 at just UNDER a half a tank -- so, THAT is really weird !!

Then the gas will continue to 'disappear' as I reach less than 1/4 tank !! ARGGGHHHHH !!!!

You think that is bad? I have no cluewhy but mines been the worst for the past year. I avg around 16 mpg...sometimes i get 12 mpg and i have a CLP....which i heard is supposed to be even better MPG. Before i did anymods ...nto sure if its because of the mods...but i got around 240 per tank alwasy. Now iget around 190 per full tank... When i drive REALLY carefully..i only get 17-18mpg. WTF is wrong with my car? Would the AEM or Denso plugs affect my MPG THAT much? Whats sad is when i drive from houston to austin, nice long road trip, i only get 240 per full tank. Thats so sad when you take long trips to equal waht everyone gets on everyday driving. Would acura even do anything considering i have done mods to the car?

Dude I hear you I got no mods except for Chrome Rims and Dunlop Sport 5000s, and even when I do 80% highway driving I get 220 miles per tank. But then again I do 100+ the whole time i'm on the highway
But once I get a choice to get to Acura I will ask them what they thing and let y'all know. Later, Anthony.

I've tried every way of driving. City only. Highway only. City and highway. Pure automatic or Sport Shift. I've hit it hard and also have drivin like grandma. (Incidently my kids grandmother is a maniac behind the wheel. When driving to Fla from Jersey and back she goes 6-700 miles a day as the only driver and very fast). I have never, ever, been able to crack the 21 - 22 mpg barrier. Not even close! But thats within what Acura claims for its estimated mpg so I guess all is good.

You guys who claim to have gotten 340 and up on a tankful, did you ever run it above 1200rpm while getting that milage or were you clocking the miles on the flat rollers of a dyno?

i will die happy if i can get above 20 MPG.... i ususally get like 16-17

As a member of the Grandma and Lead Foot club, I can attest to low mileage of 13 MPG driving in the hills with lead foot. Also managed to get 30+ MPG on loop from LA to San Barbara and back -- no lead footing (and no, the drive was not simulated on a dyno with moving pictures rolls)...

BTW -- MPG in city traffic sucks -- VTEC OR NOT

Do I have to be the ass here and bring up the fact that in terms of other engines with our HP/L ratios, ours kicks MAJOR ass? I mean, Rustang V8s have boatloads of torque, the same HP the CLS does, but only get like 18 highway.

We paid 30k for our car - who gives a fawk if you spend $25 a week on gas?????

From a CLS perspective. I'm only getting about 19~20mpg mixed city/hwy daily commute to work. No long road trips thus far, so I can't help there. Really doesn't matter if I'm SS'n or not. She drinks it, I keep the wallet out and ready!
