Steering wheel vibrates while braking at speed > 50mph
Guys,
My streeting wheel started to vibrate while braking at speeds higher than 50mph. Any ideas what might be the reason?
Thanks!

The car has 26,000 miles. I'm no mechanic, but it also seems like a breaking system issue to me. If it was alighnment/balance the streering wheel would have vibrated regardless of braking.
Do you believe that it falls under warrenty coverage or should I prepare my bank manager...?

I got the impression from the information here that the rotor issue (if this is the case) is borderline warrenty issue. Unless I'm completely naive, it seems to me that if the rotors become defective after 25K this IS a warrenty issue!

Thanks for the comments guy. Out of the guys who did get it done, can you please specify:
1. Whether it has been done under warrenty - and if so did you had any difficulty at getting coverage OR
2. Wasn't done under warrenty, and if so why and was the cost.
Thanks

Eran...I didn't have to say squat here was exactly what the service guy said
"we first swapped out the front rotors(under warrantee), that helped but not eliminated the shuddering, so we swapped out the rears as well, sorry for your inconvenience"
ony thing is my brakes issues happend around 10k or earlier
I hope your serv dept is as receptive

TSB 01-017 know problem. Acure should turn rotors (if they are within spec., replace if not), and replace the pads (which are the cause of the problem).

Got the front rotors turned and new pads at 25k miles under warranty.
Got raped $120 to turn them again at 48k miles.
For your reference, kragen resurfaces rotor for $8 each.

I can't believe that a car in its 3rd year of production STILL has the same fucking problems as it did in its first year. Unbelievable lack of attention to detail on the part of Acura....FOR SHAME.

i had similar problems with 2 other acura legends owned previously so when purchasing the 01 cls new, i had the dealer remove front and rear rotors and sent out for slotting and reinstalled. i experienced a similar condition to yours at 15,700 mi., and had the rotors resurfaced (warranty covered) have 30,000 + since and no further problems.

I miss my 03 CL-S :(
Rather than start a new topic, I'll continue this one with a question:
I think my 2003's rotors are warped. I've got just under 25k miles. I'm going in for service (oil change primarily) Saturday. I'll mention it and also the TSB that's out (dunno if that covers the 03s). Should I bitch and complain if they won't fix em (turn/resurface) for free? Or should I shell out the $ for the service?

if your dealer gives you crap or wants you to pay money to have them resurfaced or new ones installed just tell them "no thanks" and buy some aftermarket slotted, drilled or both.
If you have them resurfaced or replaced it's just going to happen again...
