Steering Wheel Questions Regarding Airbag
I've read that the airbag on the 03 CLs differ from the 01-02 CLs. I was planning on swapping my steering wheel for something alittle nicer. Which wheels work? I do like the RSX wheel as well as the TSX wheel. Does anyone know if the new (2009) TSX wheel will bolt up and if the airbag will work correctly? If not, any other wheels that will work?

Any Honda or Acura dual stage airbag. The 01 & 02 CL's had single stage. The only ones that will be plug & play far as I know is the RSX & S2K. The TSX & other wheels are more advanced with all the steering wheel buttons & stuff. While they may fit the wheel hub none of the wiring is compatible without rewiring.

Are all the RSX and S2k airbags dual stage? Or are some years different?

I swapped the TSX wheel on --- aesthetically it looks great --- im waiting on the harness to come in from oemacuraparts so i can attempt to wire in the cruise and radio functions...

Yea, I am leaning towards the TSX wheel as well, but I really want to keep the cruise and radio buttons functional. Did you get the harness that goes in the steering wheel or the one that goes on the steering column?

I ordered the TSX pigtail harness. From what i gather from the illustrations it goes into both the column and the controls. I cant guarantee i will be able to make it work, but im going to try. Have the wiring schematics for the TSX, and im going to post a thread now looking for the CLs.

from what i gathered. yes, in theory. but if you don't care about having both stages then you could essentially hook up on stage and leave the other disconnected. otherwise you would need to measure the resistance from the 01 bag and duplicate the same resistance with bothe stages wired up. pretty confusing if you are not electronically savvy.

So would it work in case of an accident? That's what I'm concerned about. I guess I would have to keep the old one and put it back on when I sell the car. I wouldn't want the future owner having serious problems if that airbag doesn't deploy correctly if they have a wreck.

So to get back on this subject from a few months ago, the 03' airbag does not plug onto an 01'? You have to splice wires to get even 1 stage to work?? I guess no one has the balls to try it for fear that it might not work when it needs too. Like me.

If those members are on this board, I sure would like to ask them questions. Can you name them. I would love to see a DIY with pics on this subject. I think it looks great compared to the 01'. I haven't seen posts from members that did it.

I'm curious to find out as well. I'm considering swapping an 03-05 RSX steering wheel and airbag on my 01 CL which is a single stage airbag. Anyone have DIY instructions on which wires to splice?
