Souped up Jetta from the factory at the mall??

I was at the mall... and from a distance... I saw this agreesive looking profile of a white car.

As I got closer... I said.. "WTF" its a jetta.

It had LARGE... very nice looking Volkswagen wheels... they were prolly 17's... but they definately could have been 18's... they were BIG... and there was barely a tire profile. I forgot to check the tire markings for size though.

It also had a understated body kit that looked factory.

It looked surprisingly nice for a Jetta... but I went to the Volkswagen site and they had no info on the parts that were on it.

The car was in a area with a bunch of other Volkswagens for sale... the rest were normal

Just thought i'd share.

Sounds like the 'sport luxury' package on a Jetta. Don't know 'bout the ground effects, but for 2001 you can get OEM sport springs & Bilsteins (60 mm drop) and 17" alloys from the factory. Good looking wheels actually, but they're probably heavy as hell...........

I guess I know a little about this becuase I just traded in my 2000 Jetta VR6 for a CL-S. I could never go back.

None of the Jetta packages include ground effects, but the stock wheels for the Sport packages are 17" (five spoke w/ split spokes). There are some nice VW aftermarket wheels available, but I don't know of any that are larger than 17". The Sport springs are pretty tame (Eibachs) as far as the drop. My guess is that these were owner mods. There's some really nice stuff available for the Jettas.

twill.............did you not like your 2000 Jetta? I looked at them as well as the Passat but the interiors were a little "spartan" compared to the CL-S. Great V-6 in the VW line though.
