Someone Convert me...
Ok, I am in a tight situation here. I really want to get a new Type-S, but I need some more info on the people that own them... how quick are they really (0-60, 1/4 Mile, etc.)? What types of Mods are there for these cars and how much HP do they add? Right now I own a 98 Grand Prix GTP witch, with my smaller pulley, has ~275hp and 300+Torque... I know you are all biased, but it is worth the extra $ to switch over?! I sat in a Type-S at the local Car show a few weeks ago and fell in love with the interior... how fast can these cars get (Stock and non stock)? Also, what are some of the common problems with these cars (If any)? Thanks for helping out the new guy on the board!

Also, how much can I expect to pay for the Type-S? I know they are ~30,810, but how much have people gotten off the sticker??
Thanks again!

Anthing more than 10-15% of MSRP is a good deal. You will got robbed for accessories. Best not o buy anything other than the spoiler from the dealer... others u can buy them from onllne and save big $$$$.
I was victim to a scam where the discount dealer prices are ACURA MSRP!!!!

Prices have softened significantly. You can get at least $2000 off I would think, perhaps more depending upon your area.
A couple members have traded GTP's in for a CL-S. Hopefully they'll see this thread and help with the convincing!
Hey scalbert.... where are you???

Thanks for the opinions so far guys.. keep um coming. I would really like to hear from someone that came from the GTP.. Also, how much can I expect to pay for the dealer installed spoiler? Another thing (Iknow, I ask a lot of questions..) what is the top speed of these cars (Are they limited by the computer at all)?
Thanks!
Thanks!

most of your tech question could be answered by browsing Acura site www.acura.com
They have a special section for Type-S.
Tope speed is 149. ECU limited. I guess you would never like to be in 100-149 on the public roads, do you ?

I think you got answers to your questions and there isn't any point in echoing them from multiple members. Mods are somewhat limited as this car is almost perfect out of the gate ( ) Actually, it is fairly new and we expect more mods as the car gets older. Is there something which did not get answered?

Well, I paid about $500 over invoice. I got mine with the nav for 30,200...w/o figure 28,200....there is a huge difference in terms of luxury. Before I got my car, I was trolling around in Grand Prix GT. First of all, it was crap in the corners, I did like the torque...and so the S/C one must be great...=T, but 260hp means you get up real quick once the VTEC kicks in...I think the GTP was only running about 14.9? That's what I saw at the track anyway.

I think it was "Vampyre" that traded his GTP/Z for the CL-S. He may not be on this board, try the CL forum at acura-tl.com and search for threads on his name.

I got my '01 Cl Type S for $30,788 with navigation, wheel locks, and splash guards. I think the navigation is definately worth it, especially when considering the resale value should be higher with it, plus its just cool.
