I need to learn how to drive stick quick.. I know the basic principles but i have a few questions...
1. do you have to downshift when you come to stop or could you just move the gear to N from any gear ( ex. if you are on 4th gear do you have to downshift to 1st gear than N?? or could you just shift 4th gear to N)
2. when you turn the ingtion on for you car you have to hold down the clutch right?
3. Nertual is the entire middle right?( or if you just move the shifter to the middle it will go to the center of the middle??)
4. could you press the clutch and brakes at the same time? and your not pose to press the acc. and the clutch at the same time right?
5. what rpm would be good to shift at when red line is 7 and 8?
6. when you park your car the shifter should be on N or R?
7. is it okay if you are slowing down and you are on a high gear(5-10mph) and dont shift to 1st until you start moving again?

Attention class.....
You don't have to downshift when you stop but you will as you get comfortable. You end up using the engine to brake you in addition to the brakes.
Most newer cars have an interlock that requires you to push in the clutch to star the car. This prevents you from starting in gear.
Neutral is in the middle and has a "natural" spot. It is easy to find.
Generally you will press the brake and clutch at the same time many times especially when stopping. Rarely will you press the acc and clutch in together. You will press the acc and release the clutch.
When parking, I used R when pointing down hill and 1st when pointing uphill.
Contrary to autos, you use emergency brake everytime.

GTO pretty much answered all your questions but you asked about shifting into first when slowing down...you cant really shift into first until you are pretty much stopped (at least in the CL because it wont let you) Eventually you will figure out how to wiggle it just right and shift into first when you are going pretty slow though.
