Some worthwhile advice for CAI owners

this advice actually comes through my own trial and error this past weekend:

on Saturday, i showed my brother my Xephyr CAI, and at the time, the CAI LOOKED secure, but what i didn't realize was that the seal just below the air bypass valve that connects the 2 halves of the CAI together was breaking. now, the fit and finish of the CAI is VERY tight, and when i first installed it, i did the best i could to make the seal as good as possible, and i clamped the seal tight enough to hold it. well, yesterday i arrived home and heard that strange tone coming from the engine (this topic was raised a few weeks ago), so i opened the hood, examined the CAI, and realized the seal broke and both halves were completely separated, so my engine has been sucking in non-filtered air for a maximum of 2 days. so i thought of an alternative way of making a better seal, and then it dawned on me...Vasoline. a thin coat on both of the rubber seals from the bent half of the CAI and the filter half of the CAI. not only do i get a better, more secure seal, but i also am able to clamp it better. hopefully, the clamp will hold it well enough to prevent the 2 halves from sliding around b/c i virtually eliminated the friction. hope this helps out for those who have this issue.

Chris
