I know I dont have a CL or TL but I since I'm here so often, I figured I'd share this kill story:

As I'm rolling at my 80-90mph pace just past interchng 11, I roll past this white Acura RL with chrome wheels on it. Given that RLs look terrible with chromed wheels (IMO), I chuckle and move on past him. All of a sudden, this dude blows by me and then slows down just ahead of me. So I returned the favor, seeing as I believed the RL was easy pickins for a 3.5L Max. Subsequently, he gets right behind me; mind you, I'm going about 90mph+. Then I figured "BUMP THIS!!" and nailed it and he did also. From 90-120 I pretty much owned him but I didnt notice him fade too much and by 130mph he was only about 3/4 car legnth behind me and GAINING a little. I'm thinking, "How fast are these RLs on the topend?" As were both rolling past 130mph, we had to get on the brakes because there was some lite but clustered traffic ahead blocking each lane. Afterwards, we had a couple more rolling runoffs and it always seemed that I got an excellent jump and pulled on him initially only to see him slowly gain. Once we got to the curved roads of the Jersey City extension, it was obvious that he didnt have the 5G Maxima's handling "prowess" (speaking comparatively).

I sort of have a new respect for the RL now. Is it really only cranking out 225hp/231lb-ft? Or is that a bogus Acura figure meant to keep insurance rates manageable?

Maybe the fact that you were cutting all the wind resistance in front of him enabled him to "keep up?"

About how old was the driver in the RL?

 

Nice kill! The RL has decent topend. When I had one as a dealer loaner I took it up to 125.

 

He looked older 20s-younger 30s (wild guess).
