SO3 Surgery

This actually happened a couple of months ago but I just stumbled on the pix. The tire was only 1 month old.

I was just cruizin' along and heard a little thump...but paid no attention to it. I drove about 2 more miles to a restaurant and when I got out, heard the slow leaking of air! Doh!

I decided to extract the foreign object to determine my tire's cause of death... ouch! I think it used to be a piece of a pruning shear.

It actually looks like it could be HALF of the end of an open-end wrench.

i pulled the metal piece of a seatbelt buckle out of a tire one time. left a thin gash about 3" long in the tire, and ended up inside.

I actually bought them on tirerack.com. I thought I'd save $90 by buying them online. I paid $153 each whereas tire shops w/ road hazard wanted $240. Guess I was wrong to try and save money on road hazard!

You can buy the warranty from tirerack when you get tires.

That looks like a huge claw from a "valasso-raptor (sp?)"

Haha.... I was just going to say that but you beat me to it.

Looks like a velociraptor attacked your tire.

Sorry about the tire injury.

Nice pic of what a 235/45-17 looks like on a stock rim. It doesn't look like it's out of spec at all. Cool.

Actually, I told them the truth about what car it was gonna go onto. The guy asked me if it would fit and I said 'oh yeah, lot's of people do it on acura-cl.com w/o any problems whatsoever.' He then proceeded to sell me the tires. I guess I got lucky. Costco also put in an order for me...but they were backordered too long so I ordered from Tirerack.com
