It a social network to keep in touch with friends/family all over the world. You do realize you're bring a hypocrite as Acurazine is a social network to some capacity... lolol. I guess some members here could comment that you have; no life to have '1350 posts. Im at 604 after being here sincg J8une and Driveacord.net i have 2500n posts in two years. nSo what 'does that make you? ha ha ha... It's all relative. Different people lke different things. Please try not to judge. I'm not saying you are but it sure comes off that way. There are a LOT of families that comunicate with loved ones thjat travel a lo0t whether it be military or on business. Did you ever think about that?
Also, a good amount of my posts are Acura-related. This place isn't solely for chatting it up in Ramblings, I also come here to make threads like this one and get insight and info on all things related to my CL. If taking an active interest in my own car means I have no life then so be it

Wow, seriously? I'm not judging anyone at all for being on facebook or twitter. I simply said I don't want to go on it. You're the one giving me crap, saying I "must have no life". Then you seal it off with "Please try not to judge" so I definitely wouldn't say I'm the hypocrite in this situation

Remeber you wer the one that stated people "waste there time there" which kinda imply people hav eno life but to be on those sites. Its funny to see you definding yourself on why you are on this Acura social site. Im done though. This guys thread isnt about facebook/twitter. I just couldn't pas up the opportunity to comment.

Anyways, considering just going the non-navi route. All of the ones I see are ridiculously overpriced. How do these get priced so high? Don't stand alone GPS units cost less than $200 or so? The ones I see are all in the $600+ range.

Yea, I guess its the all in one factor that pushes the prices up. Thats why Im building a car-pc. Same price, many more features.

Oh and I also don't use facebook either, waste of time to me.
Too many e-Thug wannabes or just straight haters, besides I don't want to have to tell people what the heck I'm doing 24/7. :P

Personally I WISH I could use the stock unit. Not just for the 6 disc changer, but moreso for the stock look.

You can still maintain a stock look but this gives you the opportunity to add ipod/usb/aux hookup, mp3/wma CD playback and most importantly bluetooth since most states its illegal to converse in your car w/o one. Another thing is navigation with traffic/weather. Oh and I forgot XM/Sirius radio. It all updates the car to todays technologies.

Shameful bump.
Any way to keep the steering wheel controls with an aftermarket HU? I checked crutchfield and they don't have anything that's compatible with our car... according to them. Finally got all my other car stuff take care of, so I can now focus on the CD player.

Did you ever pick a HU to go with? My stock one just crapped out on me a couple weeks ago and my CD's are stuck in it. I'm going to consider going aftermarket now.
Have not really put time into trying to fix it yet. Read that unplugging the battery for a few may help?

There are add-on kits from some so you can keep the controls. Call Crutchfield to see which decks they carry that have this. Are you getting Double-Din screen/Fold-out so you can have Navi/XM Traffic?

Yeah I think I'm going with this one:
http://www.crutchfield.com/p_130AVHP...-P2300DVD.html
and yeah as far as quick fixes for the stock CD player, it's really up in the air. I could have a couple discs jammed in there, so I just turn it off, leave it for a little while, then when I come back a couple days later, they all work. There's really no rhyme or reason to any of it. IMO a good reason to get rid of it

Haha, just got mine done! FINALLY!
I decided to say screw it to the power steering interface thing. Even though I shelled out money for it, when it came time to install it, I just thought it wasn't worth it. Oh well.
Anyways, from the time I started to the time I 100% finished, it totalled NINE HOURS. No joke. I kept soldering the wrong wires around, calling crutchfield tech support, doing what they told me, calling them again when it didn't work, and the 2nd guy tells me the exact opposite, etc.... Plus all steps involved in taking out the old one and putting in the new one (all the paneling..)
Well anyways, it works now, and I'm happy Swear, my OEM CD Changer had FIVE discs stuck in it! Now I just gotta crack that open and dig out my discs. I tried unplugging the battery, waiting a bit, then plugging it back in, but when I tried to eject them, I got a "CHEC" error display, followed by ER-E1.
anyways, just wanted to update. I might post pics soon too

I did buy that PWS module w/e thing. After all the work with installing the receiver, it just seemed like a little bit of a hassle just to be able to use the steering wheel controls.
Either way, I'm keeping my stock receiver so if this Pioneer ever craps out on me, I can switch back easily
and yeah 9 hours. It was the first time I took off all the console paneling and all, so I was nervous I'd snap the little plastic clips and hinges. Then I soldered the harness to the "Input" side on the PAC-SOEM piece, then called Crutchfield tech support and they told me it goes on "Output" instead. Once all the soldering was done, had to go back and forth with tech support 2 more times until I finally got it to work.
..... then I realized 90% of the sound was coming out of the right front speaker. I had to dig back in and find out I somehow accidentally messed with the independent level control knobs on the SOEM.
Anyways, I dunno if it's all in my head, but it does already sound 10x better than the stock unit. Not to mention I had to crack open the stock unit to dig out the 4 (not 5) CDs that were stuck in there.... and one of them was snapped! It has a big split in it thanks to the damn stock piece

Looking to dump OEM for upgraded technology in my '02 cl type s. Anyone have a Kenwood DDX418 installed or similar, how do you like it? Any pics or different suggestions? I was also thinking of changing out the components and 6x9 with Alpines.
Local shop is quoting me $775 + tax, which includes kit, harness, head unit and keeping the volume control with current streering wheel. Does this sound fair?? This does not include speaker installs.

Not too sure about the Kenwood unit, but altogether with my Pioneer + pac-soem adapter + steering wheel interface (which I didn't install....) came to almost $500. My head unit was $350 or 400, I forget.
Assuming the Kenwood you want is roughly priced the same as my Pioneer, I'd say that's a bit steep. Especially considering it doesn't include speaker install.
