So what's the point of the Cruise button?

I mean why is it even there? You still need to SET the cruise control for it to engage, and disable it when you want to regain control of the acceleration, so why is the Cruise button with the little green light in it there?

the one with the light is so someone doesn't accidentally set the cruise control on...the one on the steering wheel is so you can set and cancel as needed when using cruise control.

It really is overkill. There's no reason for that extra button on the dash. I guess maybe if you're REALLY fat your belly might set the cruisecontrol on the steering wheel by accident if you inhale too hard, but even that I doubt.

Heh... Maybe I could rewire that button to be the fog light on/off. That would keep me from having to install a new button...

Good call. I wonder how much a shop would charge to do that. I really want to turn off those stupid non-HID fog lights.

How else do you turn off the cruise control? Using the cancel and the brake will disengage, but how do you shut it off once you activate it? Wouldn't that be kinda silly not to have an off button?

Yep, the lawyers indeed. You engage the cruise control, you run up behind another vehicle and you brake, and once you take your foot off the brake, the car accelerates, rear ends a family of four....you know the rest.

No cruise control off button (manual says use the brake....): Acura is liable.

Cruise control button (manual says use the button to disengage only; brake doesn't always work....): Acura might be liable, you might be liable; depends.

In any case, my button is always depressed (on) as I mentioned once before in a previous post.

huh? the last time I had cruise control on ... hit the brake and the whole thing disengaged all together (even after I let go the brake) ... I had to push "resume" or "recall" to turn cruise control back on. The same thing happened with my old Prelude and I think that what the manual meant.

From what I know when you hit the brake pedal, it would activate the switch which turns off cruise control just like the switch to light up the brake light.

IMO, the switch is there so you would not accidentally engage cruise control. I've been in a car w/o that switch. It's heavy duty Ford 15 passenger van.

Okay. I thought disengaging cruise control and turning it completely off where two different things; electrically speaking (not mechanical). No?

You're right about this. Once it's disengaged, it's in stand-by mode ... the switch shuts it off completely. But when it's in stand-by mode, the car is not going anywhere unless you accelerate. Anyway, I just wanna clarify that once you tap or hit the brake pedal, cruise control will not engage again unless you press a button.
