So, I have a serious addiction . . . . .
. . . to cars. I bought my CL-S in January and already have the itch for something new. Please, don't get me wrong, I love the CL-but I feel like I am ready for a new car.
So, I stoped by the Acura dealership and looked at the TL. Very nice. I have looked at this car before, so nothing new to me.
I then looked at the new goat. I seem to be the odd-ball-out in the fact that I like the way it looks. The interior is nothing special, but it is not down right cheap. Yes the exterior is nothing radical, but I like it. Again, nice car.
Then, I looked at the S60R. Lets just say this, I already have an apointment to take it out for a test drive. The Norkap (a somewhat shiny, bluey-black leather color )interior is simply beautifull!! Can't wait to see how it drives.
Then, there is the Lotus Elise which I allready have a deposit on. I can't really comment on it cause I haven't even seen the car-but I am allready having second thoughts on that guy. I just don't know how practical of a car it will turn out. In fact, having the word "practical" and Elise in the same sentence is probably illegal.
Anyways, enough rambling. How can I get rid of this money-sucking addiction????? I simply am in love with cars!! I really had to strain myself from not signing the dotted line today!! Am I the only one like this??

I sat in a elise last week at a local dealer. I would NEVER buy this car as a daily driver, you really need to see it in person to understand. There really is nothing to the car, but i guess thats the point. Also the car was sold already.
Anyways what the hell you looking for in a car?

You're asking that question in the wrong forum. Go for the Elise. It will be a blast to drive. Hopefully you didn't plan on driving it to work every day when you ordered it but if you did............... This is a car forum. Problems like this is why we are all here.

What i really want in a car is luxury, performance and room. I know that by saying this it completley eliminates the Elise. The only reason I would get that car is for the fun to drive factor. But I think that for now, it just simply does NOT make any sense. Too bad, cause it would be one hell of a car for Sunday auto-x'ing!!
But anyways, anybody know of a cure to the addiction??? Am I the only one?

The Elise is like a Go Cart with a VIN #, they are not everyday cars.
Did you know the Elise is about 5inches shorter than a Miata?
I think the 05 GTO is going to kick ass. Has plenty of standard features and room to make a fine everday driver and will have 400hp to boot along with some cool new features. Granted, the only things I think is missing that's really necessary are Xenons and heated seats, Sunroof (nice, but take it or leave it), Nav (nice, take it or leave it).
The S60R is very nice, but its still a luxury sedan....if that's what your looking for go for it but you'll get bored of it otherwise.

Aint no way man... I am 26 and have 12 cars so far. None were wrecked.. Just got 1 per year and had a few play cars in between.
Here is how I see it. I love cars. And because I do, I will always have a car payment. So if I can get a new car for the same price (or very close) to what I am paying now... Why the hell not get something new..
Anyone else agree?

So how do you guys manage to get a new car every year? I mean, I have been really good about always having some sort of equity going into my next car. But, if you were to buy a new car every year, do you guys pay extra every month? Or do you put extra down every time you go into a new car?
Edit: Score! This is my 100th post! Stupid little number. Astro, care to hook me up?

Lotus, TL, Pontiac, Volvo?, you're definitely getting a wide sampling. What did you drive before the CLS?
If you really have, as you describe it, an addiction, then no 1 car can satisfy, IMO. You have a beautiful, black, headered, lowered, comfortable, dependable, and classy CLS., (I've seen it). I don't know what out there would offer a huge leap over it for the price.
I'm happy with the CLS 6 speed, but truthfully, I've only had this one 2-3 months! Nothing really ever tempts me but the BMW 330ci and even that seems like a trendy overpriced non-original choice. The CL is more unique, due, at least, to fewer numbers, and is very fun to drive.
Hope you can end your 'addiction', but addictions by definition, can never be satisfied.
When you drive my 6 speed maybe you'll want to stay in the fold, but I kinda doubt it from reading your post, but you gotta admit it offers a lot in one car. Good luck with your shopping. I'd say, always think it over overnight if you feel you are being impulsive.

Maybe the '05 might kickasss but the '04 at 350 hp isn't that impressive. It may run faster than Car and Driver got it to run ( http://caranddriver.com/article.asp?...&page_number=4 ) but you have to add the 3-5k premium on to the base price. At that price they Pontiac dealers are trying to sell the GTO at a Corvette price I should know I looked before them before my G35C purchase.

After sleeping on it, I realized that for me at the present moment, it does not make sense to get into something as expensive as the Volvo. And, after driving the CL this morning, I do love it-just NEED a manual. So, hopefully we can find a manual with navi. Anyone know of any hanging around??

Yeah, I buy... Only ever leased a 2000 A4 because it came to be $184 a month. That allowed me to get a classic '64 Mustang as a play car.
People always think I am rich. I say hell no. I just have good credit..
I basically wait till I break even. For example.. If I buy a 25,000 car,
#1 - make sure your downpayment is at elast what the tax and tags cost.
#2 - I will make 2 or 3 extra payments over the first year. And when I break even, between what I owe and what they will give me on trade, I trade it in. Becuase if they give me 19 thousand, I only pay tax on 6 thousand etc..
When I started driving, my first car was a 1994 Ford Ranger. Payments of 280 a month. And every car since then has gone up a little bit. I am at 400 bucks a month for the CL. And that was with no money out of my pocket.. I dotn think i would go over 400 a month. Befor I did I would go to leasing.
The way I see it, some people smoke cigarettes, some do drugs, I drive my addiction. So I dont feel bad when I have payments.

1) Buying a house. We went to contract in May 2002 (same year we got married), moved in May 2003 when construction was complete. Priorities change when you have a mortgage and a marriage. Not only that, but once you realize that cars are one of the biggest losing investments you can have you start to keep the money in your pocket and not throw it away on cars. My next purchase will be a low mileage 2000-2001 S2000. They're selling for about $19-$21k in my area with about 11k miles. Now, the guy or gal I'll be buying it from paid close to $30k new, possibly more... but for me, I'd be getting a barely used car which I can easily put 100k miles on, for $10-$12k less then he/she paid. Makes more sense to me.
2) Modifying... lots of it. When I get comfortable with my car, I do a mod. It may be to the engine or exterior, but either way, once it's installed it feels like a brand new car and you fall in love all over again. Currently I have about 4-5 different items waiting to be installed in my garage, but I put them on 1 or 2 at a time so I can get that new car feeling every few weeks/months

definitely not alone. I've had my TLS for over 2 years and am a little bored of it. I love it and overall she's been good to me but I am already looking for my next car (fortunately, and unfortunately, finances keep me in check). At this point I am even thinking about selling the TL to get something cheaper like a civic if I get into Business school for next year. If I do I will suck it up for 2 years (it will be torture) until I get out and start working again....at which point I can hopefully get something nasty!

I now lust after retirement and things that have equity.
Earlier you start, the earlier you can retire and buy things that don't matter
ya, I'm sick of CLS too. So I can relate. I'm just controlling my spending. I make a lot more $$ now then i did when I purchased it which makes it even harder. But, I look forward to being able to save that much more when this pig is paid in a year.

I just got my CLS a little over a month ago and i'm looking at gettin a 350Z. I love my CL too, but i really want a Z. I'm probably going to keep my car for at least a year before i trade it, i have the same addiction as you and i'm sure there a lot more of us out there and that fact that you're 21, you're doin damn well. I'm 18 and put all my money in my cars but i need to start saving, i just have an addiction to spend all my money on cars. Oh well, it's fun. The lotus is nice, and cheap for what it is, but if i were you, i'd get a Z and put some money into it. Godd Luck on whatever you do.

Good luck.
Part time is usually 4-5 years and then Georgetown offers a 3 year combined Law and Business degree for those accepted (full time of course)...this however I heard is very demanding.

I personally couldn't take five MBA classes per semester, f* that......too much work even going full time. There aren't enough hours in the day, at least with accounting. Besides Finance, most other programs are easier.
And come think of it, I think it took me 3 1/2 years.

Actually a couple schools offer intensive one year MBA programs. They may not be top-tier, but it's what I can do right now. Besides, I couldn't handle going to a university again for anything over a year...I'm not to fond of school, but you gotta do what you gotta do. Two of the schools with one year programs are the University of Florida and Florida International University. Obviously I've planned to stay in Florida to keep the costs down.
