So I have a question about the CL vs the 300ZX
Hey everyone, my roommate keeps annoying me by saying the 300zx is faster than the 6 speed 3.2cl. I have the 6 speed CL and he has a 92 or 93 300ZX 5 speed manual. I told him stock-stock it wouldn't be quicker and the CL will beat his 300ZX. After showing him the specs, horsepower, torque, and weight...he still says his is quicker because he has an aftermarket flywheel and forged pistons (which he says gives him better compression) and a bored out motor.
I still say nay...what do you say?
It's funny because he thought the 300zx came with more torque stock...which it doesn't and he thought it weighed less too...they both weigh 34XX pounds...which is a little suprising because I though the CL, since it's bigger, will weight more. According to Edmunds, the difference it weight is only about 10 pounds.

my buddy had a 300zx and they do have crazy torque. at the time I was driving a 99 accord with the 3.0(which im sure is similar) and it kept right up with it. From the start accord had the lead but around 70mph the zx took the lead. Accord was stock and the zx had an exhaust, pretty sure borla. In my opinion with the motor being .2 larger and have a 6 speed, it would deffinetly give it enough to beat the zx.

torque for that 3.0L is 198 HP is 222 weight 3285 (manual base 3.0L)
03 cl-s manual 3.2L 260hp 232 torque weight 3446 (add 10lbs for nav)
so some basic math indicates that Nissan has 14.8lb for each hp and the cl-s has 13.25lbs for each hp. Winner CL-S
He would need to gain 26 HP just to break even with you in terms of accelleration.
So unless you are a horrid shifter and he is Mario Andretti, good luck.....
So I am going to have to agree with this guy:
