Side airbag light

Guys,

I noticed when I start up my Cls the "Side Airbag off" light comes on for a few seconds, then goes out. Is this normal, I don't remember ever seeing this even though I have only had the car 2 weeks.

yeah, it's fine...u'll find there are a number of things that seem a little weird, such as just prior to turning over the engine, look at the P,N,D5, etc. lights...the P and D5 lights will b on at the same time...or the VSA light stays on for a few seconds...or when u first pull out, u'll hear like 2 noises coming from the engine...it'll almost sound like a moan stuff like that.

ohhohhh I know this one
Usually this happens if you have a passenger that is leaning out the window or is really large. That is just to let you know that if you are in a wreck at that moment that bag will not deploy. This is just what somebody told me.

that's funny, I also was wondering about the engine "mone" as you put it. I guess they all do that right after the car starts moving, I think this has to do with the brake booster.

Acura Service told me

that this is not unusual.

It happens whenever the car senses a person or object in the front passenger seat that doesn't come in contact with the backrest.

For example, if I throw a bag or heavy coat on the seat, the light will often come on. Or, if my girlfriend is in the seat, but leans on the door or leans forward to get something in the glovebox, it will often come on.

Just had my 7,500 mile service and that's the explaination I got. Sounds reasonable to me.
