Should I trade my TL-S for 6MT CL-S?

Hey guys, I talked to some guy who is trying to sell his White 6MT CL-S with tan interior, I offered him a trade for my TL-S with navi. His car has 23,000 miles and mine 44,000. The only thing is he doesnt have navi, nor does he have an extended warranty like I have till 100,000 miles bumper to bumper. What do you guys think. PS....id be learning to drive stick on this car, but my mom knows how to and my friends do too.

go for it, it won't take too long to learn a stick, just needs practice

he should still have some of the factory warranty on it. the CL might be a tough car to learn to drive stick on though. I say go for it. Navi can be added anyway.

Trade it ASAP. Navi is cool, but not as good as 6 speed.

well think of it this way, if you don't need a 4 door and you want to drive manual, then i think you got your answer. is this a straight up trade? or is there gonna be $$ involved in this too?

The CL-S6 is a tough car to learn how to drive stick on... trust me; I did it But after a while you'll be pulling off heel-toe downshifts like a pro. Just remember... palm down!

Believe it or not I was toying with this idea as well. My dad is handing the TL-S off to me in January and I was thinking about trading it for a CL-S 6speed. Sounds like you guys think this is a good idea. How is the CL for climbing in the back, my friend has a Bug and it is a bitch to climb in the back.

its a little tight getting in the back of the CL, but who cares as long as you won't be there. I'd get the 6 speed if i could, i miss it.

Someone said it takes to modding better. Howso? Could I end up saving money anyway. I haven't really started modding my TL, just the small stuff like fogs and stuff..

Takes to modding better because the drivetrain is much more efficient. In stock form it makes nearly 25whp more.

If i were you, i would ask one of your buddies to teach you stick on their car before you get the cl-s. As it was stated before, the cl-s is a difficult car for the first time stick driver, not to mention you dont want to be grinding the gears in your brand new cl-s.

Most important points have been brought up, but here's my list:
-CLS6 is faster than auto CLS/TLS due to more efficient manual transmission (less drivetrain loss)
-CLS6 makes more power from mods (stock CLS6 is just as fast as auto CLS/TLS)
-CLS6 has a very sporty & responsive clutch - fun to drive / not easy to learn on
-CLS6 transmissions don't fail like the auto's do

Interior
-CL's have 4 seats (5 in the TL)
-CL's have nicer looking seats (the leather doesn't come rippled)
-CLS6 has a nicer tachometer (lol)
-CLS6 has automatic heated seats that regulate intensity by themselves (no HI/LOW settings)

Overall:
-Trade is worth it, if at all, just because you're shedding off half the mileage on your car
-I don't think you'll miss the NAV if you don't use it (it doesn't increase resale value much anyway)
-You still have the standard Acura warranty

Bottom line:
-If you're willing to sacrafice 2 doors and a NAV system for an increase in power and driving satisfaction (not to mention lowering your mileage by 20k), then this is a great deal for you!

Well so far I've just been looking at it for the extra power, and didn't know how to drive stick. So i went out last night and did my first lesson in my friends 84 Jeep. It was alot of fun, and we're going to make it a regular activity of making me good at stick. So by january (earliest I could possibly trade for a CL-S) I will be able to drive the new car. But I really did enjoy driving stick the little that I did.

Anyways, my TL-S buyout at the end of the lease is going to be 17k-ish. Is there any chance of finding a CL-S 6spd for around the amount of cash, because Pops doesn't want to spend any more than that on me.

17,000$ for a low miles CLS-6 is like finding a needle in a haystack. It's not impossible, but it may just take a few years to find it!

There was one on eBay a few weeks ago going for like $15k. But it had like 70,000 miles on it. I could be wrong, though.

Go for it, lower miles, rare car, you will enjoy it more. This is the best trade ever if you do it. Forget about navi, you can always get a better aftermarket unit than the Acura nav if it really matters that much. Good luck with that...

So what is a reasonable price that I am likely to find? If I decide to work at getting some scholarships this year for college that saved money can go toward a trade

Bump. Anyway it would cost me about 4k more to get a CL 6spd as opposed to my TL-S off lease. So in your opinion, should i take this scholarship money (roughly 2k) and use it to mod my TL, or toward buying the CL?
