I just got new springs without getting new shocks and I haven't felt/experienced any problems so far. The people who suggest getting new shocks at the same time as springs talk of saving money on labor. Of course, you gotta fork out money for the new shocks on top of the springs. With a new car, the shocks should be able to hold up for at least a couple of years even with the added stress of the lowering springs. Just my 2 cents.

You should be okay with your sock shocks, I just changed my shocks and springs 2 weeks ago. I was close to just buying the springs only, but I was one of those people who was like "if they are going to work on my springs, I better get the shocks and save the money on working on the car twice".
(Just my opinion though)

i've been pondering this as well. curious to see if anybody has "evidence." the "experts" on here are split, some say yes you need the shocks, some say no. i've been holding onto my pro kit for a few weeks and it is killing me.

Do you need new shocks right away?--No

Will you probably need new shocks someday?--yes

Are Koni shocks absolutely awesome?--you better believe it!

If you don't want the car to bounce--get new shocks at the same time. I bet if you're even considering it you will one day want the new shocks also.

Ideally, increased spring rates require a higher damping rate. (This is basic control theory stuff).

Do you need to? Depends on what your going to do... (Are you putting in springs that will knock your filling out?) (Are you going to race at the track for your house?)

Some of the people who want the "ultimate" experience with their lowered ride, must have the shocks. However, I've talked to one of them (a member who will remain nameless), and they tossed the Konis 'cause they were to hard for him.

So, he liked the lowering springs, but didn't like the stiffened ride with the Konis. (He said it, I didn't)

With more time, there should be more shocks available, and more choices...

BTW -- remember the shocks are for transients...
