short trips having a long-term effect

my car will probably have split highway and city driving. however, my CL-S will be involved in a lot of very short trips everyday. do cars with short trips last as long? i plan to keep this car for a long time.

I know I have to change the oil much more frequently. And I get around to driving it at a good speed to clear the exhaust system of any moisture.

Rich, I believe you'll shorten the lifespan a bit but not enough to be concerned with. As you stated change your oil frequently and clear the exhaust system and you'll be fine.

Well..keep your faith in Acura. I'm sure a City car will do at least 150k-200k with good maintenance. The more highway and country road miles you do the better your chances though. I have to deal with traffic lights now and my car doesn't seem to be hurting any.

It will probably be okay but if you can combine a couple of short trips and make it a long trip then that would be better.

Long trips do help, not only with moisture in the exhaust, but also in the crank case. Though frequent oil changes help with crankcase moisture, longer trips help evaporate any moisture that may accumulate in the oilpan between changes. One sign of crankcase moisture is a brownish-creamy substance on the underside of the oil filler cap (No jokes please )
