I believe that Slimey was the only one who returned his - everybody else seemed to be happy with theirs. The only comments/complaints that I recall was that there was some work that needed to be done on the plastic under the trim ring to alleviate problems with the repositioned shift cable, but that was it. Everybody seemed to be satisfied with whatever they needed to do with their dremmel to deal with this issue ... on what do you base your comments?

Put on a Momo shift knob. The throw becomes short enough.

i love mine too so im not sure where the negative reviews are coming from, the only negative is you have to dremmel the underside of the trim ring around the shifter takes 5 min and doesnt effect the look from the outside

didn't think I had seen the overwhelmingly negative reviews that
Nashua had ref'd ... tks for validating what I thought to be ground truth ... Mine will probably go on this weekend or next.

I like mine also. It is fine with the stock knob, but when I tried it with my Momo Shot knob, I didn't like it. It was too clunky and hard to go thru the gears. So I put the stock back on and that is what I'm using now. You lose that smoothness if you have the short shifter and a shorter ball type shift knob IMO. That is why I beleive Smiley was so dissappointed. He has the voodoo knob.

If you put on the STS and dremil out the plastic and deside you dont like it...can you put the old shifter back on and have it work like it used to with out having to replace anything???

How much is it??

Where can you get it??

Thanks

Yes. It was me that hated it and returned it.

See this link for a write-up.

Frankly, I think it's a poor design if universally everyone had to trim the shifter plate to get the thing to fit. Too bad I decided this after I carved up my plate.

Nolacls - It's easy to take off the STS and return the linkage back to stock. That's not a big deal. My plate did not stay put after I trimmed it though (I carved away most of one of the clips) so I now have it secured with some ever-so-tiny strips of velco tape. I've had no issues of movement and you cannot tell that I did anything from the outside, even though it still looks like frankenstein underneath.

Oh, and as I said in the other thread -- If I were to do it all over again, I'd install the short shifter and drive around with the shift plate cover off for a while before I would trim with the Dremel. This would give you an opportunity to evaluate the tightness/feel of it before you did anything destructive to the plate.
