shell v-Power great or bologna?

All these additives in our gas? The commercials look great, but do what do you guys think about v-Power or gas with lots of detergents in it?

I used one tank and felt no difference, not even in gas mileage. Hmm..

I found that I get about 20-30 more miles per tank when I use V-Power (93) vs other premium (91-92). I figure that's almost an extra gallon per tank.

I buy v-power gas only, i guess they got me with the marketing. Im sure they put something in the gas to make it superior in some way or another, or else they wouldnt be advertising it. What ever they put in might be a negligable amount, but i just dont trust those shady gas stations, who knows what they have in their gas. And I am sure im going to get flammed about all gas being the same.

Oh i think it says you need to use it for a few tanks before you notice a diffrence, maybe thats why you dont notice anything.

i used to use v-power (92 octane, the highest in CA) for about 1.5 months during the when ifirst had my car. I figured it was all marketing anyway and so i decided to use it for a while to see what effect it would have., It wasn't all that great, it actually felt like it slowed down my acceleration and gas mileage was average (maybe around 250-275 at the quarter tank level). Then i switched to 76 (92 octane) gas and it is so much better, better gas mileage, much better acceleration, and smoother ride. I asked some mechanics abot shell gas and they said it was really dirty but that mobil, 76 were pretty good stuff, chevron was ok, but not as good as mobil or 76.

I like chevron too, it makes my car feel very quick and great throttle response, although chevron seems to get used up more quickly.

just my

shell along with 76, chevron, conoco, entec, phillips and quicktrip meet the top tier standards with all their grade gasoline grades. for example shell's regular and midgrade have twice the cleaning agents required by the government and premium has five times the government minimum. top tier was brought about when several automakers including honda and toyota decided that the governments minimum standards were not good enough so ensure maximum engine performance, so they made a new standard called top tier, its aimed at controlling fuel injector, intake valve and combustion chamber deposits.

V-power and a grounding kit and you will have to stop often to let the excess gas drain out.

why would it, there is no reason why it would all the grounding kit does it improve the gournd of the motor that means the coils make a better spark, the sensors send a cleaer signal to the ecu and so on.

V-power + grounding kit=will create gas. Proven fact that if you add every device that will improve mileage, your tank will actually fill with gas and over flow if you do not stop occasionally to drain the excess. What no sense of humor?

people your not supposed to feel any difference the biggest difference is that because of the extra cleaners in the gas your engine will stay cleaner aka less carbon deposits on the back in the intake valves, the combustion chambers and so on.

Shell V-power gas is only Shell's marketing tactic similiar to Chevron with Techron and BP's Amoco Ultimate.

There is no major difference in gasolines. The only difference is the additives and all gasoline has additives to clean injectors. There may be a slight difference in the additive packages among major gasoline brands but nothing significant.

There is no brand that is cleaner than another as it all comes from the same pipeline. The additives are added to create the brand when the truck is loaded.
The gas is filtered when it is pumped into the truck and then again when it runs through the stations pumps. However, there have been a few instances where bad fuel has been delivered. The major reason to buy a major brand is that if you do get some bad gas (you have to have proof that the gas caused the problem and a receipt where you bought the gas) they will cover the cost of repairing your vehicle.

Bad Gas

... I don't know if anyone in FL remembers when Shell had the bad gas problem...
(quick recap) The regular and midgrade were found to have sulfites that would corode the silver on the gas tank sensor, giving a false reading. After the findings they stopped selling the gas at the stations and sold the 91 oct at the price of the regular.

This happened to me... the meter said I had a 1/4 of a tank left and it was actually empty. (Luckly i had AAA) <--- cheap plug for my company... At that time I only used Shell gas, as I swore it made a difference. Shell offered to fix my car but i never kept any of my receipts. I just used a few cleaning additives and the problem went away.

I think the V*Power is mostly marketing, maybe a little bit of truth. Here in Miami, Shell is always the most expensive. I believe it is only to pay for the new stations, not that the gas is better than the next.

The Spazzz

the chevron with techron gas actually does help your engine out and clean it, so id imagine that the shell does something similar

I've used 76 most frequently when I was back up in Bay Area but I've used Shell, Mobil, etc. and I've never noticed a difference, it's still a shit 300 per tank if I drive under 2k... I think it's all marketing bullshit like that Techron.

I checked my mpg the other day with about 75-80% city driving.. on my 1st tank of v-power... about 17.6 mpg... SUCKS (well about the same with any other gas but sucks in general)
that was only 232 miles from full to gas light.. and it wasnt even driven that hard..

i have a aem cai.. an obc ceramic header.. but none of those should make my gas mileage worse.. im below 1/2 tank since my last fill.. so we will see if v-power improves gas mileage like they say in the commercial!!!

IF NOT WE SHOULD FILE A CLASS ACTION ACURAZINE LAWSUIT AGAINST SHELL FOR FALSE ADVERTISING!

I typically put in whatever it is 7-11 sells, my car runs good on that stuff. Whatever you do tho, stay away from RaceTrac, that is the nastiest gas you can run. My car did not run right, I swear their 93 isn't really 93.

V-power Working???

I filled up yesterday, and found out that my engine was running 20 mpg.... thats an improvement of 3 mpg since last time i posted my mileage which was like two tanks ago!

This tank i believe had a little bit more highway driving, but at very high speeds .. so i dont think it should be that much different...

IS V-POWER IMPROVING MY GAS MILEAGE??? DUN DUN DUNNNNNNNNN

Shell bi@#h

I use V-Power only and I can't say I have gained any more mpg than before, but then again, I get 5% cash back with the Shell card at the pump at every fillup so I can't complain. With gas prices in Southern Cali the way they are at $2.85 for super, I need all the help I can get! We take it in the ar$e down here more than the rest of the country with respect to gas prices and bs special formulated gas for cleaner air.
