What's there to be serious about in this thread? You dont have prices, you arent telling us what they are using, you dont even have pics, and heck, you're asking us what the specs are. Who's gonna be semi-serious until they see something?

Sorry for sounding like a hater, but most of the guaging interest threads are retarded no matter what the product is, because you will have everyone show interest and then once the price is dropped, so does 75% of the interest.

Good luck if you get this started though.

Don't get your panties in a bunch, it's human nature for people to act the way they are.

When you start a feeler thread for a mod that will increase horsepower to our vehicle by 50%, of course people are gonna all be like, " Hell ya bro, or Fuck ya"

Especially when its a turbo, their can be many reliability issues with this, and like the other people in here with turbos will tell you. Its hard to be made cheap for our vehicle, thats why eveyone keeps bringing up these two issues about money and reliability.

Boy, you really haven't had to deal with much stress in your lifetime to get riled up about something like this.

I noticed there were no hondas or acuras in their line up of projects/products which doesn't give me confidence that they are up to the challenge of creating a turbo kit for the CL. We all would like to see a cheap reliable one but the CL had too short of a production run to really have a market base. Things that hold me back from making my own turbo kit:

1. Money!
2. Custom fabing my own turbo headers
3. E-manage ECU tuning
4. countless other headaches that may come up

if they can solve these hurdles and make an easy to install set up that spools up quickly provides great power throughout the entire RPM range then I'm in, but I'm seriously doubting they could do this for cheap.

You haven't been around long enough.

This forum is full of empty promises.

You'll learn.

Anyone who thinks they can produce a "quality" turbo "kit" for this car for less than $5,000 is nuts. I suppose it could be done for $5,000 but there would be no profit.

It's not impossible for someone to just copy the design that's already been produced. I don't know why all these people who say they want a turbo don't just go off and have a kit made. When you think about it the only labor involved is the plumbing and manifolds.

The best thing that could ever happen was just have someone mass produce those pieces and have everyone else purchase their own parts.

Actually,

That has me thinking. If I had access to the design of the plumbing prior to it being installed on a car I would be interested in marketing just the plumbing and manifolds if there was enough interest.

However, I doubt there will ever be enough serious interest for this to come to fruition.

Your thought is right... The CL is becoming an economical choice in 9K-15K range for car buyers. Most buyers can't fork out the additional 5K for components plus the install after purchasing the car. Reference the Comptech Supercharger. Don't get me wrong, if the CL had a large following and more units were produced with better auto transmissions, and more produced in a manual transmission... You would have yourself a decent chance at a strong marketing campaign.

Your not running boost anymore are you MrSteve?

I'm not doing anything unless I get some serious upfront deposits and that isn't going to happen. I've been here long enough to know that.

Getting the parts is the easy part. Getting the manifold and plumbing created is the task at hand.

No offense; really not trying to be an asshole, but this is preciously what I mean. Many people say they want a turbo on their CL or TL but don't have the faintest clue as to what is involved.

I wouldn't build a kit. There's no need to reinvent the wheel.

If I purchase ThinJim's kit I'll see what it would cost to have a batch of 5 or so manifolds and plumbing created. This way everyone can go about purchasing the other essentials of the kit on their own.

Don't count on it though. I don't even think there would be interest to get the first batch of 5 produced.

You'll get tons of interest until they find out what the cost is. Seems to happen everytime.

You're right.

"Let's do it, I'm in!" "Why can't we just take a manifold from another car?"

"Oh it's gonna cost $850 just for some pipes? Man no-way I can get that made cheaper by my friend's cousin who works at a shop."

Scared of what? Sticking my wallet out without anyone to back it up?

Yeah of course I'm scared. Who the hell wants to piss money away?

You've been registered here for a month or so. Over the years it's become quite obvious that the population here doesn't put their money where their collective mouth is.
