scratched rim question

hey all, questiion for all over you who leased a 2001 cl and either have turned it in, or are about to. I was a member of the scratched rim club, numerous times, and when i traded in my cl-s to acura for my MDX, they told me that if they turned the car in the way it was, that i may be charged numerous amounts of money, like up to or over a grand for the 4 rims and 2 or 3 low thread tires. have any of you heard of this, and did any of you make any deals with acura to get out of it like i did. i gave them a extra 200 to make up for the damaage to the tires and a dent in the front of the car, because my dealer was going to buy the car outright from honda leasing and sell it to someone else, but they had to give that person a extended warranty so they wanted the extra money from me. anyone hear of that. let me know.

I've been wondering about that too. It sucks that they make wheels that are easily messed up, then charge you when you mess them up.

Somebody said that Acura has a $1,500.00 "damage" allowance?

I have been dinged for tires before but not rims. Unless they are beyond the "normal wear and tear", you should not be charged. The last car I had leased was a Nissan Maxima. When I turned it in, I refused to pay the charges they wanted me to. About a month later someone called me up and we split the difference. I told them (and it was true) that I had taken my car to a dealer for a "pre" inspection and they gave it a green light so what was wrong? The tires were a little worn so I ended up buying two tires and they bought the others.

well, the 1500 wear and tear was instituted after i got my lease i think cause i just gave my dealer 350 to replace a bumper that was mangled when i was hit from behind. got 500 from the guy so thats no biggie, but, just wondering whats going to happen with the tires, only 2 rims have scratches on them, and 1 of them has them on every angle that sticks out from the tire. the dealer and i tried to make a deal for a extra 2 bills to remove me totally but that ment they were goin to sell the car, but apparently the deal fell thru, so the car is goin back to honda. i guess we will see when the bill comes in. I cant wait to fight if i got to. ill keep u all posted.
