Saw the prototype CL-S supercharger at Comptech

Went up to visit Comptech today. Their shop makes me drool, you can eat of the floor! Anyway they showed me the CL-S supercharger proto-work in progress. They expect end of year to market. It was so sweet to see all the prototype brackets, hoses and Supercharger being fit to our car! They also show me the CAI......looks very functional. I left purchasing a chrome oil filler cap...looks cool!

That's reassuring news . But I'll believe it when I see it. Hopefully by the end of the year as you say. Glad they're at least doing R&D.

I thought that the SC was going to be made for the ACCord first? Or are they making them for both models at the same time. How did the SC look?

Very observant! Yes they actually are stuffing it in an accord, but very few mods are need for the CL-S.They are paralleling development.

Paxton is into Centrifugal. Eaton makes the roots style... Been to the Eaton plant several times (Good 'ole Athens, GA.) and know the GenIII M90 very well.

BTW, Paxton appearently pulled out of the automotive market recently

From the last I heard, it was going to be a centrifugal unit. Not unlike what was used on the S2000. My guess is that they will need to do similar to what Stillen did on the Maxima, have a drive shaft across the engine.

Mike B visits Super Honda Online with some regularity and in their ongoing Supercharger Update post, He said that yes indeed they were looking into doing the shaft across the engine. The Vortech Civic Si is the same way.

The parallel development had better be on a transmission or will they ship you a dozen replacements with every supercharger kit??? That should cost about $48000 for just the transmissions and another $7500 for the S/C. Oh yeah, forgot to add the cost of labor, the trans is a bitch to swap in the CL/TL/ACC. Honda R&D had a mule Accord with a S/C and the trans departed the state of "integrity" so often, the car was moth balled.

Just curious.... Do you have a guess for how much power the "stock" CL Type-S tranny is good for? Are there any particular gear sets, or other pieces that let go first?

You comment makes me wonder, how much power over stock, the current non-modified transmission will take.

BTW -- I don't doubt what you say, but I've always heard good things about Comptech. Is the transmission so weak, that even some serious "re-work" wouldn't be worth it?

1 of my friends from Autobots (RACING CREW), and he works for AEM. he told me that because CL-s is still too new, so there r very a few of parts for it, but after about 2 years, there will be plenty but they aint gonna be cheap as the parts 4 civics tho.

We'll have to see. Oh an on Superhonda Online, Mike B explicitly said that the target price for the supercharger was between $3000 and $3500. So I don't see how it'll total to 7.5 grand...

Labor install for an SC shouldn't be too much, its basically an oversized bolton...
