S/C and exhaust?
During normal operating conditions, the exhaust emmissions seem normal. But, when I go WOT and the s/c kicks in, I can see a lot of black smoke come out of my tailpipes.
Is this normal?
And, is there anyway I can determine if I am running rich or not? I have yet to install my gauges.

I haven't noticed any black smoke from the exhaust when I go WOT with my S/C'd 6MT. But I don't normally look in the rear mirror that closely when going WOT. I'll look for it next time and report back. I do notice that the exhaust tips get a bit blackened over time which indicates that my car is running rich at times. This is normal according to CompTech.
The only accurate way I know of to see how your car is running in regards to A/F ratios under WOT is to have it dyno'd. Fortunately, I had CompTech do a dyno on my car right after I had the S/C installed and everything looked within spec.

Yeah, I don't usually look back either. It's just that I went WOT and I noticed that the car behind me tried to keep up. When I glanced in the rearview mirror, I could see a dark grey cloud of haze in his headlight beams.

That is normal as the fuel pressure will rise quickly causing it to go rich for a bit. In addition, at WOT you are also running richer that you would be NA due to the same fuel pressure increases.

I see many cars blow out some kind of smoke under WOT, make/model is irrelavant, have seen it on all kinds. I thought It was just blowing out any kind of buildup.

Just an FYI - seems like the s/c will make the car run even more rich. I'm not an expert but I found this on the web since I'm researching the viability of me getting a s/c. Bottom line - get the CL-s pulley to solve the problem.
