S/C CLS Vs. a Mach 1

I was on okeechobee Blvd going east when I spot a Mach 1 pulling beside me. Older guy in his 40's maybe. The Mach was blue. we stoped at a light and my freind said look at that mustang.... soon as the light turns green he guns it but i dont because I wasnt expecting him to take off. then we hit another light. this time im prepared for him to take off. he gets the jump on me and im slowly catching him. Remember i have the problem with the slipping belt. I was only at 3-4 lbs of boost. at the end of second we are even, then in third im inching away from him we stoped at 100 ish MPH and I was about 1/2 car ahead of him. he makes a right turn at the next light and when i pass I honked and gave a thumbs up but he didnt even look over. I just wish my damn belt wasnt sliping.....
i have to go find a store that carries the belt i need.....

He was probably pissed... figured you'd be an easy kill but you surprised him.

Good kill!

He had to have been stock. The most simple bolt-ons (I/H/E) will make the automatics run low 13s all day long.

Agreed, the 5speeds are mid 13 second cars stock in the hands of the right driver.

i agree as well. I believe that the stock 1/4 mile time for a Mach 1 is 13.8. according to car-stats.com a few mods and it will easily be running low 13's.

nice kill man. The Mach 1's are putting down 300 stock i believe? I love it when a cl takes a stang. My friend has an 04 Cobra running low 11's possibly high 10's with his NOS kit he just bought. So, to see a cl take any stang brings a smile to my face.

I've beaten Mach 1's with my mustang, some crappy drivers cant break 13's with them.

Nice kill.

I'd love an automatic Mach 1 with a nice T66 turbo kit, upgraded rear end, and built bottom end.

good kill. With bolt ons and tires that mustang could be an easy 12 second car.

Mach 1's are fast if they are stick, the auto's suck. My friend has one and it breaks traction all day, and when you slap on some drag radials it grips but the stall is so low that it still doesnt launch quite like a 5spd.... Good kill though

Depends who you ask. Musclemustang drove theres through the quarter at 13.2. There was another magazine article somewhere (can't remember) where they took a Mach1 and put CAI/exhaust/4.10/DR and ran it through the quarter high 12's... It probalby all comes down to the "driver mod". =)

Nice job!! I once raced a 98 5MT stang which had i/h/e. Off the line he would pull about 1-2 car length, but by end of 3rd in my S/C'd CLS 6MT, I would be within 1/2 car length from even. From a roller in 1st I would be about 1-2 car lengths in front.

i wouldn't spray on a 04 cobra. kenny belle supercharger is the way of the gun. close to 600 whp with it.

i know i know.... but it always seems as if all other cars can be modded and tweeked more than the CLS.. for the money i put in this car.. 10 ish k, in almost any thing else it could be faster.... even cars like civics (which is sad). CLs isnt that mod freindly.. IMO. my next car is deff going to be a better platform, 6 speed, and FR.
