Rusty rotors
Second topic in one day - I'm on a roll.
Back in May, I took an 18 day vacation. My car was not used at all during this time (except someone starting it every now and then). My rotors got extremely rusty as it rained a hell of a lot here on Long Island while I was gone.
After driving it for a little bit, most of the rust came off. However, some of it still remains and it's screwing with my brakes, IMO. My brakes feel like they are grinding a bit when I come to a stop. I guess it's possible that some of the rust that came off my rotors is sitting in my brake pads.
What is the best way to clean the rotors or do I need them cut?
If I need them cut, what are the chances of Acura doing this without charge as I only have 15K miles on the car?
Thanks,
Rob M.

The rust is from the brakes being made of virgin steel. Most of the time a single rotation of the wheels while brakeing clears it. If you have any doubts go ahead and take it to the dealer, thats what a warranty is for.

I wouldn't have posted this topic if I thought driving my car would get rid of the rust.
I've been back since June 3 and the rust is not gone.
Someone mentioned pitting...that could be. I'll ask the dealership about it.
Thanks,
Rob

I think I might have the same problem with my front brakes. The car was delivered with the rusted rotors. The rust went away after
a few miles but there seem to be some permanent damage. The rotors are not warped but that "grinding" is very noticeable.
I'm taking it to the dealer next month. Keep us informed about this...
