RL's Telescopic Sterring Wheel + Our CLS

Is it possible to install the telescopic sterring wheel from the RL to our CLS? Would it be set up just like on the RL? Everytime u shut off the car the steering wheel would go in and up, out of the way of the driver, for easy entrance and exit, right?

Just want to know if the parts off of the RL would be compatable with our CLs. Once that is determined I will then look into prices and see if it is worth it.

Tnx

From the looks of it, you would probably have to buy the entire steering column, I would assume there would be issues getting it to work on our car. ECU, airbags.... Oh and it's $1700.

$1.7K huh, hmmmm I'll have to look into seeing if I can find something cheaper.

Now the bigger question is, will it be compatable?

Tnx

Extremely unlikely. I doubt many mechanics would touch something like that. Too much liability.

I can't really see there being a compatability issue. I would figure that the relays and sensors would be plug and play. Unless the RL computer is totally different from out car. HMMMMMMMMMM I can somewhat see what u are saying. Different aspect ratios between the two cars. But still I would not be changing out any one the sensors. It should still deploy the air bag with the same ammout of force that would be needed to deploy the air bags. But now the colapsable sterring wheel might be another story. Seeing that the RL is a much stonger car than our smaller CLs, there is a chance that the sterring wheel might not collaps during an impact that would cause a CL sterring wheel collum to collaps.

But I will see if I have time in the day to call the dealer and see if the parts are compatable.

I had a telescopic steering wheel on my old 1969 Corvette Stingray.

The telescoping wheel position is stored in the ECU along with the seat location\settings. The CL or TL ECU would not be able to recognize the position sensors in the steering column.

So then I would need to use an RL ECU? But how do we know that the CL + TL ECU don't also support the telescoping steering wheel? It just seems right to me to have 1 ECU that could support all of the options associated with the Acuras; CL/TL/RL .

Plz explain more.
