Rims offset for CL-S
I'm planning on getting some aftermarket rims for my CL-S. My question is what is the right offset for our cars?

The most successful aftermarket applications seem to be those having offsets from +48 to +51. It can be critical depending on the width of the rims and tires you want to use.

I recently purchased a set of BBS RKs with a 45 mm offset (17").

It depends on the width of the new rims. If you are using the same width of rims as the stock rims, you can afford to have a smaller number offset.
In this case, the stock rims' offset is +55mm, if you use +45mm and keep the width of the new rims the same as stock, the new rims will be sticking out 10mm more than the stock rims, since they have the same width. If the new rims are 1 inch wider than the stock rims, with a +45mm offset, the new rims will be sticking out(10mm + (25mm = 1 inch)/2 = 22.5mm) 22.5mm more. They are almost sticking out 1 inch more.
If you use +48mm offset, they will be sticking out 19.5mm more than the stock rims. Therefore if you wanna use wider rims, you have to pick a greater offset. Just remember, the greater the offset the rims have, the less they are sticking out! I hope this helps.
