It was friggin cold! But, this cold weather does ALOT for our cars!!!!! I was the only CLS there. I got there around 8:25. There were less than 50 cars i'd say about 25? Anyway, I got three runs in about 20 minute time period.

I will be posting video of two runs on monday or tuesday. I need to digitize the tape.

Facts:
- I didn't take my roadlamp out because i forgot to bring a phillips head screw driver!!

-Gas taken was on the last line before "E". The fuel light had not come on yet.

-Tire pressure, 40psi all the way around.

-Popped the hood and the CAI was ice cold since their air temp was 30 degrees.

race #1
I was WAY too hyped up for this one. Very excited because i was at the track and because i knew i'd get some good times. Accordingly, i left VSA on VERY VERY VERY VERY BAD. I hit the rev-limiter 2x and so i had really crappy time. I ran against a heavily modded old school eagle talon. He ran a
13.873/mph 96.07.

r/t 1.025
60' 2.604

1000 13.016
1/4 15.415
mph 94.02

race #2
Ok, after being very pissed at myself for screwing up the first run. I calmed myself down. I ran about 10mins later. I was against a Ford Explorer. He ran 19.096 mph 81.65.

1000 12.330

mph 95.61

Fantastic run!!!!!!!!! My fastest R/T and MPH. Now this run is only with and AEM CAI. I know i could've goten 14.5 with the roadlamp removed!!!!! I'm so pissed. I can credit the cold weather and a little less fuel in my tank.

race #3
Ugh, i was soo freaking excited that i botched the last race I left the car in SS DO NOT RACE in SS mode!!!!! I ran against some dude in a civic hatcback. I don't think he had anymods.

I was playing Metallica and so i was a bit tooooo excited. I got one excellent run. I know i could've done better. If MM2 is ever released, then i can say that you will see CLS and TLS in the high 13.9 if not faster. Of course the car will need to have headers, exhaust, pullies, spark plugs and RES.

Not for nothing and we used to crucify someone on this board for claiming a 14.4. Good job Zapata and congrats on that second run!

Thanks NOOO. Gateshift!!! 1>2>3>4>5. Auto and SS will result in VERY VERY bad times. You can't get good times unless you gateshift. I left it in auto SS in race three . Race 1 i left VSA on

Thank you sir! Yeah i believe that with the roadlamp out i could've gotten in the 14.5's very easily. I think i could've gotten even lower 14.6 but i hit the rev limiter during the second run as well.

Somebody really needs to take the 6MT to the track. With every mod that's out now.....sheeeeiiiiit, 6MT WILL and i mean WILL run 13.5 in cool weather with low humidity.

Electrical modification that will trick the ECU into thinking it's colder than it really is and so with the fake temp reading the spark timing will be advanced. MORE POWER

im tellin ya...someone needs to get some liquid nitrogen and have a reservoir set up close to the filter that'll spray right in front...air turns to negative hundreds of degrees...we'll blow up the CAI from it being so cold!! bahahahahaha!! i think i may b out next Friday with my new mods, so watch out

great 2nd run, my friend!!! very difficult to beat!!! i can't wait to see the video replays!!

what's cool is that you ran a 14.6 w/a ~2.35 60' time.
trap speed is looking great too.

14.68 with just 95.61 is a great time... The MPH could be a bit better... with Headers of course.

Would you happen to remember what rpm and gear you were in when you crossed the 1/4 mile finish line? Also what is your wheel size and tire height? I`m trying to figure out the best front wheel tire combination for the 1/4 mile. when I raced competively in s/s 25 years ago, we wanted to cross the finish line at 10%above max power rpm. Since we can`t change our final gear sets, we can change tire combos that will change the ratios a little. I will match a wheel size to a sticky tire. This is the front tires only and not recomended for street use. My strip will open 4/29. Any help from drag racers will be appreciated and I will pass on my findings and results.

3rd gear about 6000>6500rpm? I have stock wheel size and height. For draging the CLS i'd go with a 16inch tire on the front with a width of like 7.5 or 8 if you can even get something like that. Those wheels would have to be special racing tires only as they'd look kinda whack for daily driving. Although the stock setup is nice and you could keep it the same if you wanted. However, i think 16 inch tires would net some very fast times.

Keep us posted on your results!!!! I think i've caught the bug so i'll keep posting results as i get them

I'm working on a Camera setup in the car so people can get a nice cockpit view of the car.

B/C I always thought that living the shifter in the D4 will result in fastest times...

Nearly two tenths of a second just by removing a roadlamp? Call me Thomas (because I doubt it).
Good run though!

Btw, Ernie you know better than to quote a bigass post like that. :shakehd:

Zapata, thanks for the info. I`ve got a 2002 tl-s, I`m on the cl site because you guys seem to go to the strip more. If anyone knows of a 15 or 16 inch stock wheel that will fit our cars and handle a wide tire, please let me know. I have a tire dealership that will help with the tires. My best guess is a 15 inch wheel. I`ll run the formula with the different tire heights. This is drag racing only at the strip. Change the wheels at the strip. This combo with your regular tires will kill you. This is straight line only.

SSR integrals have 16x7 rims.

MY recommendation would be volk Te37 in 15 and 16 inch with a variety of widths.

Yes, remove the roadlamp and the regular CAI ends up become a modified RAM air. There is free flowing air, the air is pushed into area at high velocity in th area where the air will be sucked into the engine and when it's cold....ALL THE BETTER Hopefully next week it will be just as cold and i will post my 14.5x slips

BTW, not two tenths but more like 87 hundredth of a second. 14.686. I just to improve .087 of a second to break into the 14.5x.
