Replacing the 6x9's

I want to replace my 6x9s, with other speakers, that would sounds good without adding an extra amp to it. Does anybody have any ideas?

Thanks,

Spiro

I was told by a high end shop, that it is best not to mess with the speakers, due to the complexity/custom BOSE system. You can add a sub-woofer and amp, but that's it, unless you want to spend big bucks !
I had them install a JL subwoofer and a Fosgate amp to run it. Sound is much better !

Black Currant Pearl, PIAA bulbs, tinted windows, Fosgate 500 watt amp, Eclipes 6X9's,JL Sub-woofer, otherwise PURE stock !

I already have a sub and an amp installed. The problem is my rear right 6x9 is dead. I already called alocal shop here in Chicago, and asked them to look at it. What I would like to do is fix the 6x9 (if its a loose wire) and just redo my inputs from the rear speakers to my sub. Have you had any problems with a lot of rattles because of the system? I feel as though the CL is really not a good car to put a system in it. When spring time comes, I'm definately going to look into finding a way to get rid of those rattles using towels or some sort of sound deadening material.

Just find a high sensitivity rated speaker like certain Alpine's. For now until my real system arrive's I have Alpine DDDrive's in the front door's and it sound's better. Not great but better than before. The problem does not lie in the complexity. It's that the Bose speaker's are 1 ohm. If you but a 4ohm speaker on that same amp your getting 1/4 power than before. To solve this problem I faded signal to the front a bit.
I hope this helps..

You could also bypass the Bose amp by connecting another amp in series, and running the leads from the aftermarket amp to the speakers (either stock or aftermarket). I believe Scalbert did something like that.
