Question repainting 01 cl-s

has anyone attempted to repaint any part of their cars or the entire car? i have a NBP 01 cl-s....and as i mentioned in a previous post it was a deep rear bumper scratch due to a hit and run.... so cop advised me not to claim insurance, now im going to repaint.

i will attempt soon, i was seeing if anyone else had done this before? pls post pics....ive done it on my integra (frost white) and it worked great

Yea I recently had a bad dent, and a horrible scratch on the top left rear of the car, with a broken taillight, all compliments of having to much to drink . But I recently had it repainted in the area and with the satin silver, by a mobile technican, and it looks great except for the area he had to put some filler due to the dent which u can tell a slight color deformity, which now he said has to be comletley redone which he said he will do. Otherwise it looks great, and you cant even tell where the color was blended. So I say ur best bet is to know people in the car body work biz for half the price a body shop, or go get raped at the body shop!

oooh.... check honda-tech for that then. they have a few threads about it u'll get more help there than here.

i doubt it'll turn out good. don't expect it to be anywhere near out-of-dealer/shop quality

Good luck with nighthawk black pearl. It's a multistage paint. Do you know how to paint bumpers (flex additive, etc.)?

If you're willing to do the prep work (aka, majority of the work), Maaco does a great job and runs about $400. The prep work is what they suck at (read: don't bother doing).

Like I said, you have to do all the prep work yourself. That's what makes or breaks a pain job. We were just discussing it with my uncle Friday night. He went to the GM paint school and has done all kinds of crazy pain jobs in the past (30 coat candy pain on a Stingray he restored sticks out the most for me). I was asking him about repainting my car in his spray booth (he recently bought a home with a full shop that has a spray booth) but he just laughed and said he's gotta repaint his Chevelle first.
