Rear Stabilizer Link Breakage
In the past 2 months, I have had to replace both driver and passenger side rear stabilizer links, because they broke. I did the driver side on 9-8 and the passenger side gave way yesterday, so I replaced it today (11-3).
The stabilizer link is a piece which connects your rear swaybar to the stabilizer link bracket. If it's broken, you may not even be aware of it. I noticed my driver side rear stabilizer link was broken only when I was installing my rear Comptech sway bar. It looked like it was broken for months...
The CL shares these stabilizer link assemblies with the Accord Coupe. Here are the Honda part numbers shoud you need to replace them:
5235-S84-A01 - Left Rear Stabilizer Link Assy
5230-S84-A01 - Right Rear Stabilizer Link Assy
They're roughly $30.00 ea.
My Acura dealer doesn't stock these because they claim not to have problems, yet the Honda dealers keep plenty of these in stock because they keep breaking on the Accords. Yes, there's a TSB on this issue for the Accords only.
Go figure.
Jens/Wayne, any comments?

Mine broke on the left side around 16k miles. I was making a right turn up a drivway and it broke. Handling was unaffected, but anytime the car had to rock back and forth, like when turning up a driveway, I'd hear this grinding sound. The dealer fixed it under warranty. They said they'd never seen one break before but they fixed it the same day. Maybe they ran across the street to the Honda dealer to get the part.

IMO, these parts were not designed properly. It wouldn't surprise me if Comptech or another MFG. offers a beefier version that will perform as intended...
BTW, I'm not hard on my car - mostly freeway driving, so there's no excuse. But every car has it's own issues...

I'd have to agree as well, this is just great news for any aftermarket sway owner. I've yet to see a problem with mom's Accord (Neuspeed rear.) But now I'll have to check both mine, and hers every so often. One more thing to keep tabs on!
This needs Chod FAQ'd as well. Good post.
