Amirsafdari, do you have pictures of your car with the spoiler on? I'm waiting for my 2001 blk/ebony cls to come in. I love how the car looks with a spoiler and I'm deciding on the OEM or the one you're talking about. Please post pics. Thanks

If you buy the OE spoiler, remember to get the trunk spring remover/installer. Otherwise you wont be able to install the upgraded trunk springs so that your trunk will still go up when you press trunk release. Does the aftermarket spoilers come with those too? I'd stick with the OE.

I agree... the factory spoiler makes the car look even LONGER. Which is a bad bad bad thing since our trunk already looks like its about a foot too long.

I hope we get a lip spoiler from Wings West or a facotry one like that on the SEMA CL.

Mnay cars for '02 are getting lip spoilers... including the IS300.

actually i dont really have pics...no digicam either..and if your debating over stock spoiler and my spoiler, then honestly its not THAT big of a difference..but if i was you, i would get your dealership to give you the $$ for the spoiler, or other stuff, and get the spoiler off aftermarket yourself..

thats what i would do..

Well, if you don't mind spending the money for just aesthetics, go for it. You can't go wrong with it If you're thinking about actually improving the car's performance, I'd go with springs, sways or tires first. You can always get it later...

Someone should post pictures side by side of a CL w/ and w/out spoiler to make up your mind

I hate to sound redudant, but get the spoiler. The CL just looks very.... average without it. It's like the icing on the cake.

I was in the same boat as you before...I got the car minus the spoiler.

But I finally decided to put it on, and haven't regretted it since.

Have any of you proud owners noticed any, and I mean any at all whatsoever, spoiler rattle associated with the addition of a subwoofer system into the truck on a CL model? Factory or aftermarket, views from both platforms would be much appriciated.

Yes, it's going to rattle. It doesn't matter if it's a CL or 740, it will rattle. When you have 600+ watts of bass, I think they only vehicles that won't rattle are the Excursion and Hummer The only way is to take apart the whole trunk, Dynamat EVERY inch of it and place wood against the walls of the trunk, etc. -- there's more to it, but you need to at least use Dynamat, which I think will work on the CL. And your CL will weigh approximately 4,000 pounds with the system and Dynamat BTW I used the Dynamat trunk kit for my Integra and placed the material in the main sections of the trunk -- it didn't help one bit. Just something to think about. The CL does come with alot of road noise insulation, so that should help quite a bit.

To me, the spoiler is to the design of the CL like the "Nighthawks at the Diner" with Elvis and Boggie and Marilyn is to the original Hopper painting. Very popular, appeals to a broad section of people, but somehow misses the elegance of the original design.

Doesn't look bad, but doesn't really fit the styling of the CL. The person who said it makes it look too long is on to something.
I will say this, I've seen few cars where the personality of the car is changed as much by a bolt on wing.
Goes from subtle and graceful, to downright aggressive.
The lip spoiler would be interesting to see, I never cared much for the one on the old 3.0 CL, but I had one on the Impala SS and it made the look of the car.

Well, yes I suppose Dynamat wouldn't do anything to combat spoiler rattle as that is not the intent, although I suspect it would be harder to hear the rattle from inside the car and trunk. Dynamate is a far to costly for me to invest in anyway, I would have to take the brown bread or high temp mastik approach. How does the spoiler attach to the vehicle? If it is simply bolted to the trunk lid, which I suspect it is, I can probably mod that to not rattle....hehe, a little fiberglass here, a little bondo there, add some paint and clearcoat and presto!

When I talked to Streetz about rattiling he said the easiest fix was to put some foam and sponge or cloth inbetween the carpeting and metal and said it should fix alot of rattles. (makes sence) and he said dynamat is more for road noise than rattiling.

Coming from streetz I trust everyword he said. Just don't have the fooken time to take the carpeting out.
