Rear deck rattle...fixed by Acura
Sterling McCall Acura hasn't ceased to amaze me yet!
I just got a call that my car is finally done (stayed overnight because they had to replace the alternator). He went through what was done and mentioned that the rear-deck rattle was caused by the third brake-lamp housing. They took out the deck, insulated the housing and then reassembled everything.
I've read numerous posts on the board about it being that lamp and how everyone had to do this themselves. While I wouldn't have minded doing it myself, Acura did it the first time! (Everytime I complained about this rattle to the service people back on Long Island, they always said they could never hear it or find it).
Sterling McCall rules!

Oh yeah...and the 30K service normally costs $335. I provided my own oil & filter and the service, after tax, is $308.21. Not bad considering I got new brakes & an alternator out of it.

Damn i'm shocked!!! Seriously....
Needless to say Sterling Macall must have gone through some management changes, or training, or something to that affect because I can tell you straight up any service I have recieved from them (not including the purchase of the vehicle which was A++++++) Sucked something serious.
I still can't get over the fact that they accused me of abusing my transmission, and lo and behold the transmission was shit to begin with. Needless to say that little incident put a very bad taste in my mouth, and I have ceased to go back to them for more service. I went to John Eagle Acura and can tell you that their service is TOP NOTCH, and have gone to them ever since * recommend them whole heartedly.
Just my .02$.

Just picked up the car...
Rear deck rattle - 99% fixed! I'm very pleased. I can still hear a little rattle over the biggest bumps, and in Houston, there are a $hit load of bumps. I'll live with it for now.
A/C compressor causing whining noise - the alternator was replaced and the noise is gone! I ran the A/C during the ride home and then parked the car and let the engine idle for a few. I could hear the compressor click on and the whining noise wasn't there.
Brakes - the new pads are on and the rotors are resurfaced. Brakes feel a whole hell of a lot better. I still think the brakes are too damn weak for the car but at least the car doesn't shake & shimmy anymore!
Congrats to Sterling McCall. They did it right this time!

I just had the following done last weekend (under warranty) at west chester Acura:
1. Rotors replaced and new pads installed.
2. sunroof motor assembly replaced (was noisy)
3. Door lock assembly squeaked; they replaced the entire assembly.
4. Rear deck rattle fixed (i cranked up the bass on the stereo and put in some boomy tunes and i was able to reproduce the rattle without taking the mechanic out for a drive).
5. Car was detailed and scratches were buffed out without asking.
They did a stellar job, and I got to drive a brand new taffeta white 03' TLP around all weekend
. West Chester Acura rocks!!
