RAPED by an S4 - OUCH!

Actually had 2 S4 incidents over the last 2 days - Yesterday, raced a Yellow S4 wagon on the hw for a short while. Neither one gained much (he pulled about half a car) and we went from about ~65-90. Nothing exciting, but it was very close.

BUT..
Tonight, I was driving and a Negaro Blue S4 pulled up next to me at a red light. Hooked up S4: tints, rims, dropped, etc. The light turned green, we both took off about 2/3's and then we both gunned it. I got RAPED... I mean REALLY badly. I shut down at about 60, and he was like 4 car lenghts ahead. Even when I was in my sweet spot with the headers (5500-redline), he was still pulling away pretty good.

I never ever lost this badly before. (not that I race THAT often) The worst I ever lost before was to an NSX I raced @ E-Town. This car actually beat me worse than the NSX. My good friend has an '01 S4, and it's definitely faster than my car, but not THAT much faster. I am guessing the guy had to be chipped. I got a 9.31 1/8th at the track, (~14.4 1/4 est.) so I am fairly fast for a CLS.

Funniest part was this riced out older Altima (4-cylinder ones) kept trying to race us afterwards. I just turned off, but I was seriously considering racing him to regain some pride.

Moral of the story I am sure most of us know already: Beware of those S4's. Some may catch you REALLY off guard.

one of my girlfriend's dad's owns Winward Performance for Porsche's and he used to have a sick S4, I mean he built a beautiful machine...i got to drive before i chose my CL cause i was thinking about buying from him until he told me he wanted 45K for it....so when driving (just me and her) i pulled up next to a ZO6 on the highway and he laughed until i did a pull, i guess i got his attention cause he pulled up next to me and gunned it, so i followed suit and by the time i hit 125, i was a car ahead of him...it was great...he told me that he was pushing 415 to the wheels when the chip was in race mode, i guess it was in race mode....dont forget that they are all wheel drive, so off the line he's gonna get us everytime...but good death

S4 6 speed stock will run 13.8(best) to an average of 14.2-14.5. Some have even run 15's!! : )
S4 Tip runs best 14.6 average 14.7-14.8.
The Tip car really hurts the first 60', then after that it gets up and moves.
I did have a chance to run with a CL-S from a standstill and it was fun with my A6 Tiptronic.

Here is a link for some S4 posted times and a couple of A6's. Mine was with the old K03 setup

S4 chipped + forced inductions and some of them pulling over 400RWHP, I don't think that it's a fair match in the first place w/ the CL-S. Just remember, there are always bigger fishes out there, even for owners of S4/RS4s.

cusdaddy-

I had the same experience not too long ago.....

http://www.acura-cl.com/forums/showt...threadid=88062

The S4's really are sick cars! Can't wait to see what the new models will be able to do! The Quattro makes these things damn near impossible to hang with off the line....I want one

I was sure I had no chance, but I was hoping it was going to be a little closer than this race was.

It's sometimes fun running with much faster cars just to see how fast they are.

I am an S4 owner. Here is a pic of my S4 sleeper. It looks pretty much stock accept the roll bar, exhaust and brakes. Other than that you wouldn't know it has 680hp. I also have a 527hp - Beetle 1.8t, TT 1.8t, and A4 1.8t. The motors alone produce 427hp and I run them on low boost as they are driven on a daily basis. Just goes to show you really don't know whats under the hood of a German engineered beast untill it's unleashed.

680hp?

How the hell did you get 680hp out of that engine? I've never heard of that before... I've heard about S4's running close to 500hp, but almost 700hp?

Heres the delio. --S4--This option is not just a turbo upgrade as I am sure that's what you are all thinking about. That was where we started and only got 445hp running 100octane gas. There is nothing left stock on this motor. I did some engine work(crank, pistons etc.), along with bigger turbos(not KO4) etc. etc. It did cost me a pretty penny....actually lots of them, but in the end I accomplished what I set out to do. I have spent double what the cars worth just to see if it could be done. I'm happy with the results but if I were asked to do it again....definite NO!...unless some one paid me to do it! As soon as we break the car in I'll take it out to the track and see what it runs.

As far as the other cars....same thing but on the 1.8t Audi motor.

Care to expand on this? What turbos are you using. MTM does an RS4 conversion putting out 600 hp using K16's. Interested if you are using these or some other turbos and what they would be. Come over to audiworld and share, a lot of people would be very interested. Did you relocate the turbos, what else have you done? Bored/Stroked?

Doubt 400 RWHP, maybe 400 WHP unless someone wanted to make the (R)S4 a rear wheel drive car, in that case they should start with a different car. AWD is one of the major reasons people get an (R)S4

Please do come over, since you like forums, it would be really neat for you to come over to audiworld and discuss.

I have an Imola yellow S4 Avant and was in Danbury/Brookfield the other day...but I don't specifically recall racing anyone (though it could've easily happened ;). Where exactly did it take place? Maybe that'll jog my memory. Visually, I had MA plates, slightly lowered, exhaust, and euro headlights. If it was me, I don't think we were really racing (maybe just going fast on the highway?), as I've yet to really find that many cars that are close in acceleration. I have a chip and full turbo-back exhaust. With that, ran a 13.30 in one of my 3 times at the drags. When other cars start being as quick, that'll cause me to do a turbo upgrade ;)

Happy safe racing,
Mark P

Nevermind - just saw the dates of the orig post and I wasn't in Danbury those days prior. Below is a pic, just for the sake of pics.

XVtuning - do you have any more pics of the roll cage installed?

Sorry XVTuning, rumor has it your car is bone stock except for chip, exhaust, roll cage, big brakes and some prototype bypass valves. Last time I checked Prototype Bypass valves doesnt add 400 hp. Care to explain?

And yes, I was there when you rolled into Flames GTG with your "650hp" S4 and your buddies VW Beetle.

I will say that your car is one of the nicer S4's that I have seen, but you obviously do not have 600+ hp. The plain fact that refused to pop you hood clearly proves to us your car is bone stock and nothing more.

Thank you for playing.

Sorry I didn't explain it, but both S4 "races" (if that's what you call them) were in Queens. I only live in Danbury during the week for work. I think I may have seen your S4 in Danbury once. Looks really nice. Did you ever run the 1/4?

Apparently you need to get your facts straight, and not run off of rumors. NO ONE knows anything specifics about what has been done to it. Why I refused top pop the hood? I remember as some one saying the egoes were so thick and sharp you could cut paper with them, and for some reason or other thought I had something to prove. As I'm sure you were there...and if you had paid attention I mentioned it was not stock, had alot of work done to it along with a lot of prototype parts, and refused to run any one for some good reasons. 1) I'm no idiot and have had a lot of fun in my early years but I will not street race. 2) the cars motor is brand new...I will not kill the motor before it's time. I will break in a new motor the proper way, as I mentioned before I don't plan to do this build again. 3) When I deem the time is right I will give every one the opportunity to see and feel the power of this machine.

so thank me for playing? No, no thank you.

As for the one who keeps saying I son't even know how much horsepower my other vehicles have....You need to go back and read the post again. I said the motors alone have 427hp and 527 with the turbo.

Seriously people can't we all just get along...I remember bashing was something we did in the third grade. When a CL came up to me and tried to race me a few days ago I refused. Afterward he followed me into a parking lot and said his CL was a 12 second vehicle. All I said was COOL! There was no way in knowing what he had done to his ride, and who am I to judge some one for not showing me everyhting he had. We talked for a while and I thought he was a cool guy. Afterward we went our seperate ways with no animosity.

So to every one else thats cool Peace Out! as I won't be back to these forums...but maybe I'll check in from time to time.

Cusdaddy,
yeah, I ran the 1/4 at New England Dragway. My best was the 13.30 @~104mph that I mentioned above. APR stage 2+ (chip & full turbo-back exhaust w/cats) running 100 octane with the chip in 100 octane "race" mode. That's with my 18" wheels, no spare, but some baggage that almost counter-acted the weight loss of the spare.
